After the whole 3 part series runs, you need to casually contact the folks you spoke to when you did the meet & greet and subtly drop hints about looking for sponsorship for the next big adventure on your Honda. See if anybody bites. Might hit up the bigger dealerships in the area too. One of them might have aqn interest now that economic times are somewhat better.

Damn son, what a trip! All without a $20,000+ dirt bike and half million in support crew! Just finished reading it, why aren't you working FOR Honda and riding a brand new pig?

I can't believe nobody has posted here since May! What are you up to now? Hows the RTWT planning coming?

Great tale and adventure for a young man but you missed the best parts of Idaho, better get packed and head back!

Yeah Dave, I also am interested to hear/read what you are up to now, and how your plans are progressing for the RTWT.

Well dude. If I told them about that than I'd also have to tell them about the IBA ride on the exact bike from this trip. Yes I rode a ninja 250 from Portland Oregon to Fontana California, 1006 miles in 18.5 hours. Than a few months later I took this XR650L from Fontana California, to Portland Oregon, again doing 1015 miles in about 19.5 hours.

No I had to stop at the store to get a present for my friend's daughters birthday. I think the 1000 mile mark was at about the same timing. I took more breaks on the 250, but traveled a tad slower on the XRL.

Waking up an old thread.... Shooterdave, this report was great. It was one of the first ride reports I ever read. Do you have another ride planned?

It is with a heavy heart I come here to post this terrible news...

[QUOTEmcma111]I just got word that Shooter Dave has passed away. I'm trying to find out the details.

Some kind of cancer. [/QUOTE]

I didn't know him personally but I figured you inmates who followed his ride would want to know.
Seems, he was diagnosed with cancer at some point last year(?) And succumbed to it in the last day or so.

Details are sketchy at this point. If I find out any more I will post

RIP Dave...
