truly sad news

That is terrible to hear and tragic. Our little print shop out in Pipe Creek, TX enjoyed making him some shirts for his journeys and share his adventure in spirit…Luis

I read this RR from the day he took off on his adventure, it truly was a great adventure, not just for Shooter Dave but for us that had the pleasure to follow along with him.
RIP Brother.

Absolutely gutted to hear this. I never had the pleasure of meeting him, but I followed his ride report as it happened and I remember it well. The world has lost a great guy. It's good to see that he was surrounded by people who loved him through this. Watch out for us all while you're up there Dave.

Leukemia sucks.

I've known others that were taken by this nasty stuff. That's why I joined the 'Be the Match' marrow registry. So that hopefully I can help someone like Shooter in the future.

It's very simple to do. Look into it.

His RR hit with me as I have an XRL and would love to take off like he did. I need to do more of that.

a true motorcycle adventurer

I met dave in a pulloff at bridal vale falls in the nc mountians. we chatted and he ended up staying at my place and doing some maintance and installing a tire I gave him. he was a fine person and I enjoyed havin him as my guest. we sat up most all nite lookin at pictures and talkin about a previous 45 day trip I had done to prudo bay alaska in 2009. I met up with him on several other ocasions during his travels. he was a wonderful friend and true motorcycle tourer in every way. he will truly be missed.

I do not feel sorry for the OP. I am happy he got to do such a ride report before he died. Many of us will only read the reports here and die wishing we could, or did ride free.

Be well Dave, and for all we know he could have been reborn already....maybe even one of your kids!

That's a hell of a ride, not many can say they rode the lower 48 states in one trip. Well done.

I really liked this pic best out of all of them.

*edit OMG! RIP ShooterDave

I really enjoyed Dave's RR. Was part of my inspiration in buying a second XR650....

Spent the day re-reading his RR. Wished I had the chance to meet Dave in person.

Rest in Peace.

We had dinner with him when he came though Houston
on his 48 state trip, he spent the night at a friends , did a little
tire maintenance and was gone with the wind the next day....
