We're aiming to be there right around 11am, I hope that gives us enough time to thoroughly check the place out.

Thumb Great place

Scott, thanks again for showing us around.

What a great place to spend a day admiring some of motorcycling history. I could have easily spent more time there, and intend to go back. As awesome as some of the pictures are in this thread, they dont do the place justice.

Thanks Scott, this needs to be publicized outside of this regional forum and become a destination it was overwhelming.

2012 Motorcycle Cannon Ball Run

I know this is a way off, but saw it in a mag the other day. The 2012 'pre' 1930 Cannon Ball Run leaves from the motorcycle museum in Newburgh, NY Sept. 7th. Some of these rides look pretty cool! I'd like to be there.

Wall of Death!

The Wall Of Death show is back at Motorcyclepedia. If any of y'all are looking for a good excuse to travel up there, this is it.

Quote:
April 21st 2012 -Pit Lengner is returning to the United States for his amazing Wall of Death performance! Four shows ONLY: 10am, 12pm, 2pm, and 4pm. Spots are LIMITED! Call, email, or stop by today to reserve your tickets! Each ticket is $20 plus tax, which includes admission to the museum.
I've seen it twice and would recommend. Last time I went he said he'd ride three things: go cart, full size motorcycle, and a mini bike at this show!

Motorcyclpedia

It's one of the top mc museums in the country and it's getting better every day. In case

you can't get there yourself, here's an excerpt from my American Motorcycle Museums

and Collections CD/Ebook.

Motorcyclepedia is 85,000 square feet of a former home supply center filled with 400

motorcycles and the entire history of American motorcycling. The motorcycles are

divided into groups and presented in thematic displays - perhaps the most impressive

being the Indian Time Line where the Doerings' private collection of beloved Indians from

1902-1953 are encased in glass. There's at least one Indian from every year of production

except Indian's first, 1901. They're still looking for one of the three 1901 Indians that were

made. If they can't find one, they promise to make a replica so the collection's complete.

There's a nice bunch of Harley-Davidsons made for military, police, and commercial use

in the Service Bikes Gallery, dozens of very early (1910-1920) American road, sidecar,

and hill climb racers in the Fast From The Past display, and a plaque giving tribute to

Indian Larry who got his start in nearby Cornwall, New York. There's even a Steve

McQueen Conference Room for your next club meeting. Look close, and you'll see

restored and un-restored models from long-forgotten American manufacturers like

Monarch, Thor, and Manson. Look even closer and you'll see restored and un-restored

forgotten models from well-known American manufacturers like the 1912 Indian 8-valve

V-Twin that sold for $350 (and you thought 4-valve cylinders were new). So what? A lot

of museums have that stuff, but Grasshopper, your lesson in Motorcyclepedia has just

begun.

The photo is of the world's fastest motorcycle in 1930.
