Spark plug wrench DIY
Here are my 2 cents
since KTM do not provide spark plug wrench since 2006 in tool bag here is what I've made.
Click on pic and You can download PDF with some drawings and make you own version or follow my drawing and create same one.
Wrench is made of 4 peaces.
- First I've bought some short spark plug wrench and downsize it's outher diameter lathe to 20+1mm.
- Second part is pipe 20x1.5 (or x2mm) L=90mm. You can drill 5mm hole trough on given coordinates.
Then you TIG weld that pipe to first part.
- Third part is tube 16x1.5mm (or 2mm) with two holes 5mm trough.
- Fourth part is screw head (M14 hexagon socket head for Allen key s12). You cut head few milimeters below head and downsize it so it can slide in 16mm pipe.
Allen key S12 you out to have in your 990 Adv OEM tool bag.
So, you weld screw head to 16mm pipe.
Now you have two welded assembly and one goes into another.
So next you can weld 5mm nut to first pipe so it alway stays there and use some M5x25 screw to fix those two welded assembly in longer or shorter position.
This foldable wrench can fit in OEM tool bag and you have one part instead 3 parts like in OEM KTM spark plug wrench.
Don't forget to put some rubber pipe inside wrench and glue it so it can pull out spark plug when you unscrew it.
