I will get them to lace up my rear hub later this year. Did you just send them your old hubs, they cleaned them up and laced them. Did they need to drill out any spoke holes?

It is long since I gave an update. In about one month I start my journey through Africa.
There were still some things I wanted to make or modify.

Because I need to cook on my trip, I need fuel for my stove. I will take a bottle of 1 liter with me and I found a Fire Extinguisher Bracket from a car to carry the bottle. I mounted it on the subframe.

Before I had mounted a center stand so it would be easy to take out the rear wheel when I would have a flat tire. The center stand was too heavy. So there I wanted a simple and especially lighter solution for it. So I made a second side stand at the right side.

On my trip I will ride about 35000km. I think that it would be right to take a chain wheel and 2 sprockets with me. The chain wheel is a steel 47 T original BMW part n° 27717716859. The Sprockets 14 T are coming from Stephan Scheffelmeier. To take these with me, I made a bracket on the pannier rack. I will not take a chain with me. I hope that I can find a chain 520 in Africa.

There was still some place behind the lift pannier rack (below the silencer) so I ordered a tooltube. I had place enough for the Mega Tube. I needed also make a bracket to mount the tooltube on the pannier rack.

Because the aluminium spacers for the wheels (original BMW) are too soft, I ordered new spacers at Stephan Scheffelmeier because these are made from stainless steel.

I needed to find a solution to take enough water with me. I will use a Camelbak Mule NV with an extra 3 liters reservoir. So this makes 6 liters on my back. This is not enough, so I will carry more water on the bike. I found little and very strong jerry cans of 1 liter at Fuelfriend.de. I will carry 4 of them on the bike. Two at each side of the rally engine guard and two at each side of the pannier rack. I made brackets to fix them fast and (I hope) safe.

When I will have a flat at the front, I also need to put the front off the ground so I can take the front wheel out. For that I made also a simpel thing. I mounted a bracket in front of the rally engine guard where I can put in a tube. When I drive, I need to carry the tube also. You can see on the last pictures where and how I carry the tube. Why there ? You will see it in a next update ....

Have you weighed luggage racks, rear rack, extra side stand, front stand, water brackets, bash plate and your bags (empty) ?
I guess you've done this route before so you know where you're going and what is needed?

Just to make sure I am following you here. Instead of swapping the wheel clamps, you just had them machined out, and used the existing Xchallenge stancion tubes? Or did you remove the wheel clamps from the Xchallange Stancion tubes, have them machined, and then have them installed on the shiver stancion tubes?

Hi Rone,

How did you fix the Ohlins reservoir mount to your TT subframe? I have an Ohlins and the TT subframe and they don't look compatible.
