Well I just installed the tires and for the first time I had to do the rope around the tire method on the rear to get the bead to seat and take air. I assume it's because the tire has a more narrow profile on the 17" rim.

I'll take it out for a spin tomorrow....

Really??? With a tube in there? I can understand the need to do this tubeless to get it to hold enough air to seat. But with a tube in, there should be no need at all.
Confused...

Not necessarily so, as I've had this problem several times when mounting 150/70-17s. What I attribute it to is how stiff the sidewalls are. Extra tire lube and they slip right on.

Ok...stiffer sidewall might be the problem, I have heard that these are pretty firm. As far as the goop goes, I put lots on and then some more before I threw up my hands and hunted down a long strap and a stick to get the job done.

I use the NAPA R-U Glyde lube when I do my tires and the product has been solid...

Yep, whatever works. I've had to bounce a few while airing them to get the bead to set. They certainly are the most difficult tire I've ever tried to set a bead on...well worth the effort though.

Waiting on the K60 i bought a BB rear. From the first 300 miles I put on it I suspect it'll last about like a TKC80.

Just received this reply from dualsportplus this morning on the 150/70 17:

subject: 150/70 17 heidenau
Q: Any updates on when this tire will be available. I need a rear tire pretty bad and was looking at those (K60 Scout) to replace my conti trail attacks, thanks.

A: We are HOPING!!! To have them late next week but no guarantee at this time.
Check back then and hopefully we will have them.

And then received this one from another Canadian supplier!

"No update on availability. As far as we know they still haven't started production yet (as of two weeks ago). Even if they do start production tomorrow I think two months is about the right amount of time for them to be here in our hands.
They've been promising us these times in a month or so for the last year and it keeps getting extended. I would look for another tire. Off-road the TKC80 and for a little more street use the Shinko 705 Radial.this one from another Canadian supplier!"

I have read that production started in late march, just can't reminber where or if this is accurate. I'm hoping that dualsportplus is right.
