It's hard to measure and the angle wasn't right. It looks like it's 4mm deep but it's 6mm. I also did the quarter for perspective.

Hope this helps...

Thanks so much Yeti!

I'm hoping I made a good choice with these Heidi's.....

You can count on getting at least 8k out of the rear. Mine has seen a LOT of slab mikles and I abuse the shit out of it in the dirt. I love steering the back end with the throttle which cannot be good for the life of the tire.

I am hoping we can get more than 8000K out of the 60's...or i guess we might have to be getting new tires on our trip at some point....going from Vancouver, BC to NY to Ottawa and back....

Just don't ride like a hooligan every time you hit the dirt and you should get 10,000. Also, I'm going to guess you don't weigh 215# so . . .

no hooligans here...but I guess the good news is that I am sure we will be able to find a dealer for tires...maybe not new K60's to get mounted if need be...we will be getting a service on this trip so we will just play it by ear as for the tires. I will make sure I take before and after pics and hopefully will have another review of this tire sometime in the second week of August when we get back. I am really curious to see how they do for us.

Saying that without knowing the roads ridden, weights involved and riding style is like saying you can count on ButteredBisquit to win in the 3rd...

The miles people get on a given tire vary dramatically. For example, someone here gets 10k out of a TKC rear. I've never got more than 2700 miles out of one.

The only real comparison of value that I can see is the same person comparing the life of a TKC on their bike to a K60 on their bike when used in similar conditions.

True.

My 8k statement was specific to Griz. I was going by the way Griz has described his riding habits, etc. in other posts and ride reports. I seem to recall that we got about the same mileage out of a TKC.

Oh, and further to your response: It looks like I'm going to get twice the mileage out of the K60 as I did out of the TKC. YMMV

Thanks again, Yeti. I appreciate the insight. Thanks for thinking about my riding style: 50/50 road/gravel with the odd trail thrown in from time to time! If I can get even 8k out of the rear, I'll be ecstatic!

So does anyone have a 140/80 - 17 in stock right now? I called Moto Amore and he said maybe end of June.

If not I'm going to get a set of TKC 80's for now and then swap out the rear once the TKC is shot.

It's all dried up. I'm in need of a rear and I've contacted everybody that Moto Amore said might have some and they were pretty much all sold out even before their shipments arrived.

God Bless,
David
