Anderson Silva is a ..... (spoiler)

... really talented fighter. He has great hands, great movement, can handle himself on the ground and yet he doesn't fight.

The "win" over Demian Maia was shit. Dancing around the ring for 25 minutes. A bullshit performance.

I know I'll watch his next fight, because if he's facing a idiot fighter like Forest Griffin he can really deliver, but for fucks sake I hope he fights next time out.

All that boring rolling around on the ground.

There was none of that in Silva's fight against Maia on Saturday night. Just a lot of dancing around on the outside, refusing to engage.

His next fight is Against George Saint Peirre and he had to drop to the 170 pound class to make the fight. I think Saint Peirre will be his first real test for years so I hope thats a good fight. Yesterdays fight was totally crap and Silva seemed to really disrespect Maia throughout the fight. Maia was to scared to throw a punch for the first 4 rounds as well.

Even BJ Penn was crap in his fight although the new champ was like the energiser bunny. Little bastard never stopped moving and just wore Penn out in the end.

I don't see it happening, not at 170. He's more likely to move up to 205. Maybe GSP might fight him at 185. But a fight at 170 would be wrong for both of them and the UFC - too much downside to have either lose at 170lbs, and not enough upside to have either win.

A catchweight fight, "for the fans", if it happens at all....

Rogen and his lackey were talking about the fight during the show and from memory it was at 170 because Rogen was saying that Silva looked lean already and he didn't know how hard he would find it to make the 170 pound weight. Don't know who else would be a match for Silva although it was strange how he tired so quickly in the later rounds.

I know that's what they were saying, but after that performance Dana White might not be thinking 170 anymore. He may be thinking let's see Silva duke it out with a light heavyweight.

And really, if Silva beats GSP at 170 then what, have him defend two titles, while he has an eye on 205? It's a stretch. There are too many UFC events that need a headline title fight a headline fight for one guy to tie up two titles

And if he loses to GSP what then? What does it say for his middleweight title that?

When a fighter dominates, he moves up in weight, not down. When a fighter gets beat he might decide to move down to a weight class where he may do better, as the bigger fighter at the lower weight.

I was wondering if anyone talked about UFC on this site.

Dana said that Silva "doesn't deserve a fight against GSP", but that was immediately after the clown show the other night.
But money talks, and that fight would certainly generate moolah. However, Dana appears to be taking this personally, from the interviews I saw.

I call bullshit.

Publicity stunt by White, and to a degree Silva.

You have to admit, it was disrespectful to Silva to put him in the ring with a fighter so far below his skill level in the first place.

Thanks

PS Any press is good press, right?

Yeah who knows? But 3 shitty fights seems excessive. It's to the point where I think people won't pay to see Silva fight now, unless it's GSP or Lesnar or Bas.

And for Silva, no matter what, he should, if honourable, finish his opponent as quick as possible and without all the taunting.

I actually think Silva gets gassed after 2 rounds.

The UFC just got a lot of Abu Dhabi money, hence the super-event with two title fights. Having Silva act like that can't have gone down well with the UAE investors.

Er...Lesnar outweighs him by 80 pounds...

GSP-Silva has to happen.

How much money does the WWE make?

They're laughing all the way to the bank.

Thanks

Lesner v Silva will never happen. Silva v Shogun would be better than Silva v GSP.

I have no idea about WWE except that it's scripted.

Silva is not be the draw he should be because of his antics. His next fight needs to be a real battle or the PPV audience will not grow like the investors expect.
