I crafted a shield to go under the Rottweiler base plate. See write up.

Finished the little stuff. Burped radiator, topped off oil, adjusted jets (no more popping!) Runs good. Better low end power, still has a wavering idle though. Maiden voyage after my first big maintenance- took the boys down to go play some disc golf in Auburn. Gotta admit, I really dig traveling around, me with a 14 year old on my KTM, my hubby with the 11 year old on his BMW, one big happy family passing all the other families in their cages. Yeah, eat your hearts out!

Funny. The bike has ~3K on it, 90% paved miles, and since it's been apart for the last week I've been wiping it down here and there. Rest assured, the bike has some extensive dirt-oriented travels coming up soon. Off-road in every state we pass through is the first part of that goal.

re: "stuff" then during the week I added about 25' of wiring and a switch (4905 at aerostich, but they apparently don't stock anymore) and boot for the lights. From the Acc2 outlet now runs discrete wiring to 2 relays, one for the Stebel horn that was installed in to the right cheek piece, and one for the aux lights. The relays are mounted where the stock horn was. I thought about using a single relay, but decided to use two so that if one happens to go, I can simply quick-disconnect and splice together on the other.

The picture shows the wire looms, one from the right cheekpiece for the horn power feed and ground wires, and one from the headlight area for the relays powers, horn power, and aux light ground. On the right is also a battery tender lead that's tucked in to the skid plate. Most of the wiring points use quick-disconnects, with associated self-vulcanizing electrical tape to seal off the protective butts....I tend to do the electrical work meticulously so that it works, and stays.

The US headlight was swapped out for a Euro one, and added HID50's low and high. The ballasts are mounted on the outside of each side of the fairing stay. A Euro headlight switch was also installed.

The Wings silencers were fitted (which involved removing the rear rack, jesse luggage racks, etc), a CJ Designs oil hose with associated bracket tab cutting, swapped the oil out again (Motorex), inspected and tightened most all of the bolts and fasteners on the bike. I also safety-wired the OEM heated grips, as they had a minor bit of slop, but not enough play in the wiring to remove and hair spray. The only thing left is to finish the locking setup for one tool tube and mount that up.

I'm more-or-less satisfied with the bikes setup now, and ready to go play!

Not today, more like last month, but here are a few pics of the items that can be seen.

Oil gauge, ambient temp gauge (not happy with the bezel on the temp gauge, but works for now)-

Flex jets-

CJ racer goodness peeking from underneath-

Fender, handguards, mirrors-

YES! So far, I like it. Haven't hit dirt yet but it is a little better mannered on the tarmac than the 606 was. Should last longer too.

Added some Alpena Flex LedZ to my bark busters, and wired them in as turn extra turn signals. We will see how they hold up. I do know one thing they are bright.

What did I do?

I decided to get off ADV and get on the ADV. Couldn't find anyone to go with me so I took myself and went for a nice loop around the County. Now I am back on ADV...
