I neerly went for the blackdog, but this looks like a good unit, and maybe less common that the other two chioses.

KTM 950SE mod

I bought a 2007 950 SE a couple of months ago and got tired of looking for gas every 110-120 miles so I bought 4 MSR fuel bottles that give me almost one extra gallon and another 40 miles. I have cortech bags that I removed and took them to my saddle maker to sew leather containers on the bottom of each bag.

Each bag holds two bottles and the weight is carried low and out of the way. Used it for the first time last week in NM and it is a great fit. I didn't want to put a Safari tank on the bike not only because of the cost but also the way it distorts the lines of the bike.

You really don't notice these leather containers. Almost looks like rockets under each bag.

This was a great solution. Total cost...$100 for the bottles and $113 for the finest saddle maker in central Texas.

You did some cool wheelies and stoppies in between the cars to ensure that the big 950 gets some TV coverage, right?

ds,

Are you talking about these...

http://cascadedesigns.com/msr/stoves...ottles/product

It is funny that you posted. I have been pre-occupied with this issue for quite some time. I am not "sold" on any of the tank offerings, at the moment. So, I thought about something along the lines of what you mentioned, but couldn't find the tanks (even though I would've sworn I had seen them before).

Thanks for the post, and let the other SE/OC guys (or, at least, me) know how it works-out for ya'...

You know it. It was raining and I was riding on 606/908RR so you know I was carving the turns.

All I can say is that those dudes were not observing very many traffic laws.
It was pretty awesome riding along with some Ferrari's that were not afraid to let'er buck.

Yesterday I took my new scoot out for its first lengthy ride (to break it in). Went from Nevada City up Highway 49 through Downieville, then to Bassitts, then (kinda) to Graeagle (Highway 89), to Sierraville, to Truckee, then took Donner Pass Road through town up to Soda Springs (got lunch), and continued to Big Bend and then hopped on I-80 to Highway 20 and rode the new pavement layer all the way back to Nevada City. 193 miles and at least that many waves along the way (even to the Beemer riders).

This afternoon, I got my mail and THEN my new ADV stickers arrived! So I proudly put one on the new bike and took it to our club meeting for show-n-tell only to find out they moved the meeting to somewhere else. Damn.

So I rode home, somewhat disappointed. Along the way the bike wouldn't shit into neutral at the stops, and then it wouldn't shift at all along the road? I pulled over and checked the master cylinder and found it was empty. Hmmm (not even a week old)??? I thought, well I'll just run to a local market and buy some brake fluid, except the cap said "Use Mineral Oil Only!" WTF?

So another change of plans and I took the back way home. Only had to run four stop signs (with no clutch) and limped it into the garage. At least the ADV sticker still looks good.
