Parked it in the garage due to dislocated shoulder. 6 Weeks no offroad, because if it pops out again they wil cut me.
i can still ride it on the road tough.

Lost the front end in the grass while coasting in 2nd gear...
Thinking i was doing WFO in 4th on the dirt 1hour before that....

When he came off the track I looked at the broken peg and quickly removed the right peg off my 950 ADVenture I JUST got. (sure glad I rode it to the track that day)Later that week I decided to get a set of Fastway pegs for my 950...... MUCH better than the stock ones.
He finished the season with the 950 peg and won the Championship. We figured it was the added hp from the peg off my 950.

Changed my oil.
After 5 years of practice I got it down to a quick 3.5 hours
I can see a CJ designs oil hose in my future.

Getting ready to ride to the KTM Rally. Changed my oil and discovered a wavy oil filter. Confirmed my fears about a water pump seal issue. Knew this was a potential problem and had ordered CJ's WP rebuild kit with a CJ hardened WP shaft. Very nice rebuild kit.

The rebuild was made much easier with Pyndon's write up in H.O.W. The water pump cover had casting sand inside and the shaft showed signs of wear and the bearing oil was white and creamy.

The rebuild went well except for stinking up the kitchen heating the inner clutch cover (yes I washed it first).

I used Cpmodem's coolant flush write up to help get rid of loose casting sand. Putting the right header back on was a PITA.

Here is how I burped the coolant system.

The oil change was pretty easy because I had installed the CJ oil tank drain plug extension hose. The upper screen filter is still work because I remove the left tank to get at it.

I have a CPR Rottweiler air filter and took advantage of the free baseplate upgrade. Installed the new base plate much sturdier looking plate. The MAP sensor and crank vent hose mounting locations are much better.

Also replaced my worn Mefo SE's with Heidenau K60's.

Put on the panniers, just need to pack and ride.

Nice repair EdGear. VERY nice.

How many miles on yours before the WP bearing/seal went?

These bikes certainly can be a lot of work but they sure are worth every penny and minute we spend on them.

Seemed fine up to 13,000 miles, began to wonder about the cooling system at 14,000 miles, was loosing coolant. Replace the rad hose clamps that had been leaking and the cooling system seemed OK.
Bought a CJ half twist clutch cover and saw the first signs of water in the oil. The problem seemed minor and seemed to go away.
The motor started to sound like it needed oil but the level was Ok. Maybe coolant was propping up the oil level and the oil was getting thinned.
It was time to change the oil and discovered the wavy filter.

Sure it was... it was changed from a worn tire into a worthless hunk of melted rubber
