Got the stripped out oil drain plug out and replaced. It took an easy out, and lots of lube to get the bolt out. While I was working on the bike I cleaned the air filter, and mounted a set of Flexx bars.

Haha I meant 750 LBS tongue weight, and no it's like 6500 towing capacity. Good enough for a triple trailer and 3 KTMs!!

Just air up the rear tires, and it isn't a big deal actually.

Fuel Pump still work? Can you hear it pump up when you turn the key on?

I have seen a couple die suddenly while in use.

but then.

Once parked i decided to check my battery voltage. While running up my RPM'S to test my RR the bike puttered out then died. I came back to it 2 hours later and it wont start!?! The battery is strong [thank god] but the engine wont turn over. there is plenty of gas.

if i give it throttle, or open up my choke wide while starting it, i get a metal clank sound. i hate that sound. sounds damaging. But it could be a clue. my first hunch is gas. flooded? i tried starting it with the petcock off to burn it off. and then with it on again. the bike sounded the exact same. my gas lines around the pump looked fine. but they are hard to see with my safari tanks.

I'm at a loss. what happened? I did such a good job changing my pads, now the bike is broke again?...!

[I tried searching the orange crush forum. but it's not working. sends me to a blank white page.]

any thoughts?
Thanks.

This is what I did. I think I spent a whole $4.00 on the black rubber from Home Depot and I have enough left to do it another 3 times. It turned out really well.

It was too long ago to search back thru this thread to find the pics again.

Are you talking about the black vinyl ribbed floor runner? How did you secure it? Pan head sheet metal screws?

waterpump seal

I was losing a little coolant so with 28600 miles I figured I needed to do the water pump rebuild. Took it apart. To find that the shaft looked good So I just put a new seal in and buttoned it back up. Heated it up to four bars in the garage, checked for leaks and all looked good. Rode over to put a couple of gallons of gas in and went for a short ride, very short. Coolant started leaking out my lower hose, getting on my rear wheel and first right hander I spun out. Safari tank guards held up fine But my collar bone did not, torn all ligaments to the shoulder

That super sucks but thanks for giving me something else to worry about when I get my bike fired up.

Old next to new.

I will let you know...if it turns out good i ordered enough to whip a few.

Its grey 1000 denier cordura coated fabric with some nice thick thread. Should last forever, be water proof, and look decent too.

whoa ..... ! something doesn't look right
are you sure that is the new upgraded water pump shaft ?
it looks like the old style
the new upgraded shaft should be black if I am not mistaken, like the one in dogslobbers post

That's a CJ Designs hardened shaft on the left. The CJ shafts (36K miles guaranteed) are darker than as reflected in that photo. I think it's just the lighting. I just bought the CJ hardened shaft and can't wait to get it in the bike.

That looks like the stuff I used.

I just reused the original mounting strips and screws that were already on the Gobi's.

Nice work. Aren't u gonna put a tube between the stock peg and the extension for more lateral strength ?
