sync FCR's , oil change , clutch jet clean & change oil , Change brake oils , coolent , chain tension / lubed , checked over all bolts , charging batteries for the uhf/gps , charging battries for helmet cam , packed clothing , tool pack ready so all set for my 700klm round trip on wednesday.

what did I do today?

I stripped the bolt under the sump. Now draining the oil for a service just got a little bit harder...


any suggestions?hahaaahaaaha

I did the same thing. The sump reservoir right? Not the case main drain bolt.

Installed a pair of Angel eye daytime running lights so its not just the 1190s that have them lol wasnt easy to split a brand new headlight but I think it looks good





Also installed Superduke mirrors, Mirror extenders, did the de restriction mod, fitted the new Quill Evo 2 end cans, fitted phone charger in cubby box, fitted twin horns behind headlight, alarm, LED bulbs in rear light, rim tape, been a busy couple of days lol

OK, the headlights are really nice. Can you say more? I saw the 1190 Adventure and was thinking about splitting my old US headlight apart to duplicate those LEDs around the permitter, but your setup looks really nice.

Went shopping for it: service manual, KTM crash bars, Flatlands skid plate, Rigid LED flood lights, KLIM jersey and Dakar pants. Kick stand relocation and Luggage may have to wait a while...

bought from Ebay they are the smallest ones I could find, easy mod just remove the headlight, split with a sharp knife and a couple of screwdrivers to prise apart drill the holes for the cables, fix the DRL's with double sided sticky tape, refix the headlight together with tiger seal or alike, wire the DRL's to the side light, job done Ive put a switch in the cubby box to turn the headlight on and off

So Thursday I come home from class and find a box



Inside said box was a bunch of awesome



So I put it all back together and saw that it was good.

Then I finally got around to prepping it for the Sandblast/Alaska/General Stupidity

Heated grips switch that didn't require drilling into anything from KTM



Safety wire the grips and throw in some pizzaz



Safety wire anything that makes me stop



Put the baffles back in so I don't have to worry about being over the dB limit. Had to drill out one of the carbon caps



Mounted my roll chart holder



Took it for a shakedown run and hated that there are no gravel roads in Charlotte. I have to get back to East Tennessee.



KatoomWife is now very happy that she can pull her car back in the garage.

Relieved that the oil filter pleats looked good. No waviness.

Started a winter service project on my new to me 950, that I bought in November and havn't had a good riding day to try again since I brought her home..

Oil change
Water Pump
Checking out the canisterectomy job, see if the cats will need "adjustment". Figuring out how much was done by the PO's mech.
Checking out the vacume lines.

I think I caught it just right, tiny amount of foam i the clutch/oil, slightly compressed filter and fairly decent grooves in the shaft. Oil looked good though considering its last run in November was 200 miles down the slab to my home and it was a 80+ mph trip... Only down about 8 oz of coolant..

Didn't get it back together because like a dork I forgot to buy lock-tight and the bottle I had was the wrong flavor..

Bought the CJ shaft, it is a NICE looking piece. Machine-work is top notch and you can tell its HARD.

Buy some locktight and finish up tomorrow night,, be all ready for a good riding day... :)

It's been a pretty busy bike weekend. First I had to remove this cupped TKC80 and the bent up OEM front wheel...


Since I didn't want a good tube to go to waste, I pulled that from the wheel and put it into the new front combo, along with the front disks...Heidenau K60 & 1.85 Excel from Rad Manuf.



New wheel came with well greased bearings and perfect spacers...fit right up. I then replaced my busted up rear rack. The original mounts cracked in two places, but were promptly replaced free of charge with beefier pieces.



Next I had to wire in a fuseblock, I deceided to mount it in the glove box, right next to the existing one. There was alot of running wire, soldering, fitting, etc...the tasks were easy but it took forever. This added six new circuits (30a max each). There is no more room in the glovebox, but it all fit very well.



The reason I wanted the added circuits is so that I could add some Aux lighting, run my gps and have room for some future grip heaters, etc. I decided to pick up the long range LED lights from Cyclops Motorsports. They came with a plug & play harness, which I modified slightly to work with my new fuseblock.



They look great, and mounted right up to the BDCW triple mount intended for Rigids. I'm slightly concerned with clearance at full compression, but time will tell if I need to modify this setup. So far, so good. I then went out for a 100mile loop out to Hwy 1 and back to test everything out. Here's a shot of me setting the correct beam height for the lights. This is in the dimmed position (50% I think).

Ive spent the last month totally going through the bike changing fluids, checking everything, adding a new fuel pump and CJ water pump kit, new battery...lots of small things, ignoring the carb. I went on the maiden voyage yesterday after almost 2 months of ownership for a quick 50 mile trip in 30deg weather. At idle, it runs just fine, but at 4k rpms, it falls flat on its face.

Time to look at the carbs. I knew I should have checked those also.
