i was sick of the stock seat after 5 years and finally decided to do something about it. I realised that it lacked support for the butt at the right places so i decided to a bit of DIY re-shaping after buying some car seat foam, cover material etc...

started shaping the extra foam so that the seat is enlarged at the rearward area (where i sit while riding on the highways) at the same time, keeping the narrowness intact up front so that it doesn't hinder while standing up (off-road)..

covered it with some softer top layer foam

and then my favourite colour seat cover material before buttoning it all up with a heavy duty stapler

looks the right shape but i haven't installed it on the bike yet & ridden it. will report later on the results.

oh, and the stock tool bag was in tatters

so i got one made out of leather, actually the mrs got them made for me at her shoe repair shop

Last thursday I changed the front rim on my brand new 990R. I thought I might as well change it, before I break the Behr-shit. The DID-rim from 950SE fits right away with original spokes. For the rear I have a complete 950SE wheel.

Superplush R installed, bike back on the ground.

249.5 mm travel. It's the .5 that makes the difference.

Installed new grips and grip warmers in preparation for my Arctic Circle trip in June.

Installed a set of Renthal Carmichael High bars. :) love em.

Way less sweep than stock and with the addition of the Scott's triple and damper it's now finally the perfect height for me while standing and while seated.

Funny how when you ride an identical bike with a few different tweaks you can find exactly what you are looking for.

Goes nicely with your $1300 exhaust.

I had a ride out to the coast with my missus on Sunday and noticed the bike was a tad louder than usual, I feared the Y piece of the exhaust had finally corroded.

Time to tear into the beast, removed luggage rack, side fairings, rear mudguard and number plate, scotoiler, underseat tray and finally the footpeg hangers, three of which needed drilling out!

Fears confirmed with a hole in the left hand side of the link pipe

Luckily I had bought a 2-1 link pipe off a fellow inmate a couple of years ago when he shopped his Adventure in for an SE. I'm not really a fan of the single pipe as I think the twin pipe looks much better, but I've just shelled out a shitload of dollar for our summer holidays and money's tight at the mo so the 2-1 will have to do until I've been away.

Bit tight to fit, but managed to get it on.

What I did notice was a grove in the rear shock cylinder caused by the left hand side fairing. It doesn't touch when the fairing is bolted to the bike, so not sure why or how it's caused it, but it's worth a look guys!!!!

All buttoned back up and sounds good, not ridden her yet so can't comment on if it makes a difference. I am going to do a bit of searching to see hoe guys have fitted their tool tubes as I want to fit mine in the gaping hole which is left so it doesn't look so odd.

Pulled the clutch apart again tonight. After looking closer I had some notching of the basket fingers. Swapped positions of the two innermost steel plates. Polished (sanded) the fingers on the inner and outer clutch basket and placed all the drive plates with the rounded edge "out".

Notched inner basket

Sanded and installed inner clutch basket

Started my tubeless project. First coat drying.
New front tire on, rear one waiting for the rim to be ready. Can't wait to see how the new combo is but I have two more coats and three days to wait.
