Had to retourqe the center bolt in the clutch, should be 130Nm but was almost finger tight...

Have had a terrible ramble from the clutch lately and some power missing, looking at the steel plates I could see that it has been slipping a bit (not much) and might need to replace the. The lining plates are spot on 2.8mm after 71000km.

Bike feels nimble and strong again...

Hella FF75 aux lights

Installed two lights, side by side in the fork. They turn with the wheel

My back is still hurting like hell after 2 months. Fortunately doctor gave me good drugs and told not to drive after taking them. So I decided it's perfect time to go to garage and play with power tools and flammable liquids.

First I made a snakes nest.

Then I installed a plastic thiggy

Before leaving I started makin this nice aluminium kikkeli.

All parts are in place on the rear end of the new bike:

Still need to properly tension the chain but its possible to roll around now if needed at least.

Took her out for a rip in the snow... Might be the last time I ride it this year as I'll be off to the field for a month and then straight to Baja with the 450!

Replaced the OEM clutch slave with an Oberon from CJ Designs.

Tools for the job, along with some mineral oil.

Where I'm about to set to work,

To minimize fluid leakage I attached the new unit using the supplied washers and re-using the banjo bolt. I just snug-tightened this and let it hang while I messed with removing the OEM unit and the bushings,

Once the banjo bolt is off, the two pieces of the OEM unit. You'll need the two bushings, note they only go in one way, correctly.
OEM:

And the Oberon with the bushings installed,

Now it's time to snug up the new stuff and then bleed the system.

I rotated the master to level, pull the top off and begin in whatever method you like. I couldn't get the bottom up thing to work for me so I fell back on my old standby mity-vac, and bleed.
Worked fine.

And done,

And then I changed the engine oil and filter.

I made a small mess. The Hazmat team was polite about it.
And not how you'd think either. Re-filling the oil was my downfall.

Went to track day before changing to nobbies today and put a first slider on her.
I can happily say she slides well:)) No damage to the plastics whatsoever. Just the crash bar and exhaust. Nice...

Went for a short ride..

I have been really aching to ride for a couple of weeks. This is the painful time of year to live where I do; still almost nice out, but with snow storms every few days to screw with your hopes. I keep my bike in my cozy warm garage, and often I seem to just go out there and futz around and will do something on the bike just because.

The weather is decent enough for a couple of days, and the ice is gone from the roads for the most part. I had been waiting to get the bike (newish to me) in to the dealer so that a couple of open TSB's could be handled. The window of opportunity was yesterday and I jumped through it. It's about 40 miles to the dealer, and all down valley (warmer as you go). Not long enough a ride, but enough to make me smile.

Now, this morning, I am oddly at a loss..............as I took out some trash to the garage, there is a big empty space where she usually rests. CRAP. I have a list of things that I want to add or change or modify on her. I have a list of preventative maintenance things I want to tend to. And I have fun reading and planning and researching things and stuff.

It is a strange feeling having her gone for a few days..............it is not a comfortable feeling. I am hooked on this bike in a big way.

Think of me today as you ride or futz or repair or simply look at your bikes, I am lonely and cold

I guess it's time to change the oil in one of the other members of the fleet, they have been somewhat forgotten.

Oh, put on my new Wolfman soft (saddle) bags too! they're the smaller ones for day-tripping or light overnighting.

(I'd post pictures but I'm incompetent. . . this site is a PIA for posting pics.)
