I installed the Puig touring screen, got rid of the fugly reflector bracket the bolt onto Canadian bikes here by the plate - and installed the KTM front brake fluid cover which looks great - but would not seal and pissed brake fluid all over me and the bike everytime I hit a bump. So needless to say the Brembo cover is back on. There was no rubber gasket and I tightened it as far as it would go.., just doesn't seal properly. Anyone else have a leak with the orange cap?
Got the orange cap on mine - seals just fine

after working on the 990 for the past few months prepping for an upcoming alaska/inuvik trip, there is a light at the end of the tunnel...

mods so far this past winter are: safari tanks, CJ storage box, remus 2-1, custom mounts for jesse panniers to clear cj box and remus, extra fan, CPR snap out, uni pre filter, desmog, euro map, madstad/aeroflow screen combo, ktm rally pegs, carbon fork protectors (to stop the brake line wear on the fork tubes) etc...

i still have some maintenance to do, but i fired the bike up tonight and plan on taking it out this weekend to dial in the madstad screen angle/height.

Installed the Stock fly screen,

I like the look better than the tall on. Tomorrow morning I'll know if I like the function.

Took the wheels to Chris Quinn to true them up. Chris said the front was too damaged to true, it has a flat spot.

I know I can beat the sides back in, but a flat spot is beyond my finesse with a hammer. Now I'm thinking about a 1.8", though most of my riding these days is on pavement.

Lots of folks. As I understand it, it is usually the wiring running around the right side of the steering head. That plastic panel pinches the wire and it breaks. There are lots of threads on here about it. You can pull the wire, split the sheath and fix the broken wire.

You might have the same problem that I had and the two wires at the bottom of the ignition switch might be shorting, worth a look. Here is a thread I posted about my problem.

Laugh Flushed and replaced the coolant

Is it strange that I'm starting to enjoy the weird things that I have to do to maintain my 990? I feel like I have been assimilated by the Borg, because now a lot of this stuff seems normal to me.

There are other ways to do this, but this was actually easiest for me because I already had the come-along hanging from the beam in my garage above the moto-service bay. Have her do a little dance while hanging around, and all the bubbles just rise to the radiator cap opening. I added another 1/4 liter and she was all topped up. The rest of my 2 liters went into the overflow. Spec calls for 2.1 liters, so I must not have drained all the distilled water out after my last rinse. Those Mattighofen engineers are always correct, sorta, maybe . . . . right?

I just rode to Starbucks. I don't drink coffee but my daughters kindergarten teachers birthday is tomorrow so got her a gift card. Was hoping to run into some GS riders to compare notes but none were there. Guess they were at the one down the road. :)

Went for my first actual ride on it.
85miles, mix of freeway, twisties, choppy back roads, dirt roads, and some two laners. I think this bike and I are gonna get along fine.

What Did You Do To Your KTM Today?

I started packing up. My 990 and I are meeting a friend at Starbucks tomorrow.
Then we'll "head out on the highway looking for adventure".

OK maybe just go look for dirt in a direction away from people.

Yup, Great all around bikes. I honestly do a fast commute for an hour each way on mine. A very pleasurable experience on the Adventure. It's made for dirt roads though. The bike flies through them.
