Good luck

Great thread. I look forward to seeing the completed bike very soon and following progress in the race.

I would love to have my garage so full of these rally goodies so long as someone else was paying.

You should come out to the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge next year in March. I have just ridden it and it was a great event.

Hi Steve - yes, I've heard good things about that event, and the region in general... if I'm still in one piece after this season, then it is certainly a possibility!

I'm starting to think my prayers & dreams might be coming true
Is that a street legal version of the WR 450 ?
all we have here is the WR 250 street legal
I hope this means we will have the legal WR 450 over here soon
I'm definately buying one if they show up over here

I've been keeping an eye on Bluebull2007 's WR 450 build too
and followed your XT Build
Keep it going looks great

Keep praying, all I have seen is the off-road WR450 in the USA. At least where I live (New Hampshire) it isn't that difficult to put a tag on an "off-road" bike. I imagine California isn't so easy.

Just like with Jenny's other bike, the Tenere, Yamaha is ignoring the US market

The WRs have always been street legal in Europe, since '98 or '99. I am afraid that Yamaha USA is not going to change their strategy on off road vs. street legal bikes all of a sudden, since the parts would have been available in Japan for 10+ years.

Hi, i'm looking forward to seeing this thread grow. Remember to keep posting those pictures. That fairing looks awesome, there is something about kevlar or carbon fibre that does it for me.

Dear Yamaha,

Can you please bring a street legal WR450F with lights and mirrors and license plate holder to Canada? Pretty Please! I promise I will buy one!

Love Brimstone

As Lukas says, in [mainland] Europe, the WR450F (and the 250F) has been available with a full lighting/road kit on and off since it's inception really... and certainly with my 2009 model, fully homologated for road use regarding emissions etc.

However, like bog-stock KTM EXCs, the bike is so choked up as standard, you'd be better off on a 125! Fortunately, removing the airbox restrictors, and rejetting, plus replacing the cat-exhaust with the enduro version that comes in a box with the bike (and removing the baffle), releases a lot more power!

My bike was originally earmarked for the South Wales police (to chase errant dirt bikers ridding illegally I imagine), but to cut a long story short, there was one left, and I bought it!

Certainly in recent years, virtually all UK spec bikes have been the 'enduro' only version, and the same basic spec as the US machines... but of course Plod could never been seen riding a 'non-road-legal' machine, hence the handful of Euro bikes imported last year...

Anyway... I'll upload a few more photos in a second... hang on!
