Wow....you guys really jumped on the big Katoom. Remember at 400lbs and 100hp, it's got twice the HP of a KLR with just over 25lbs additional "baggage".......a good trade off if you ask me. At $14,500, you pay a measly $145/pony, or $36/lb. Not including deposit, rider responsible for "wear items" such as tires. There's also that disclaimer bit....."Pterodactyl Rentals is not responsible for bodily injury/death, addiction to speed, or any long term PTSD (Post Tramatic Speed Disorder) symptoms.

Here she is prepped in D2D ADV livery (sans new Renazco seat). She's an amazingly capable ADV mount and a glorious (yet surprisingly sedate) "grocery getter".

Book Ends

Photobucket

Took advantage of a beautiful day to finally get both BrickBikes together for a photo opp.

I've owned the '85 K100RS since 1987 and the 2004 K1200RS for about a year.
The '85 is the first year built and the first KRS sold in Alaska (199th built)
The '04 is the final year Brick RS.
A K1 would fit in nicely with these two.
Thanks for the shuttle service Katoomer.

Fighter,
Beautiful pair of fantastic machines. I've had a 93 K11LT since 95 and appreciate the platform. One of my sons just picked up a 99 K12RS and now understands... thanks for the pictures.

Congrats, Rabon. G Smith, an old riding buddy of mine just picked up it's twin here in Anchortown and I saw it at Alaska Leather a couple days ago. Beautiful bike.

Roadkill?

Here is a fresh pic of the Versys, post crash.

Still in the process of being repaired, but no excuse to keep away from a roadtrip.

Bump

I needed a couple photos for something I'm working on so I'm bumping this thread to help me find photos easier. Plus I enjoy looking at Tom S's lovely yellow ducky outfit that matches his sexy KTM that he's been cussing at a lot lately.

Cussing it lately? 14 years.
It runs. For now.
Who woulda thought that an old Buell that had been in a bad fire would be more reliable than a fancy-ass overpriced KTM.

Here, Duchess, look at this.

Nice ADV salute!

Thanks for the nice, smokin' hot ADV salute Tom! I think that deserves a little something special in return. You'll have to wait until we finish hiking around the sloppy ski trails first.

Why, no, man. My head & maybe even other parts of my body really do catch fire sometimes & ghosts of famous racers like Rollie Free & even the great Tazio Nuvolari appear. Sometimes, with luck, Jimi Hendrix even shows up too & does Voodoo Chile for us!
Man, I can hear him now!
Most of the time, fortunately for them, none of this is apparent to other people around me. This was a very rare occurrence & the person that took the pic quite suddenly left the state & went very, very far away.
Last I saw of 'em they were ----->

BTW, Mark, if you never knew who Tazio Nuvolari was I have a rare old & out of print book I will loan you that you might like. I gotta get it back from Fighter though. Loaned it to him years ago & AFAIK he never read it. Shame.
I first read it & learned about Nuvolari when I was about 14 or so. Dude kicked ass!

One of these days I might have to see what I can do with this pic. Why don't you e-mail me the others that were taken at the same time.

Hey, Mark, where did you go, bud? I thought for sure you'd have some comment on my reply to your question. I can't make up BS like that every day!
You never did e-mail me those other pix either.

I'm still here.... on occasion. And yes as always, I greatly enjoy your prose.

As Cubdriver eluded to, I've been spending a bit more time with my new "riding partner" Pam.

She's planning on joining here soon but how bout I post up photos of her and her bikes anyway?

At last Spring's Bike Show Pam saw the lovely white Ducati Monster 696 and had to have it. She then rode it almost daily rain or shine thru the summer.

You can imagine my surprise and joy when she said that even tho she loves her Monster she wondered if she maybe shoulda gotten a dualsport.

We started shopping Craigslist and found a nicely farkled and lowered KLR out in the Valley that a dad had bought to ride with his son a couple years back. It's an '01 with under 14,000mi. We went up Arctic Valley road for here first dirt ride and she did great. The road had even been recently bladed and was pretty "loose and marbley" but she said she still really enjoyed it. She's very excited about doing D2D.

Happy girl with new bike the day she got it.

And I just gotta say it, we both also really do enjoy an occasional 2-up ride. Mark H.
