You may just have to get the Cat Herders to roll over and set em straight (though we may get lost, forget why we were there and show up after closing...) - HburgNinja

I've got another location in mind that will be accessible by all but ends with a nice view that I didn't see on the tag map... Just need someone to grab it so it's back in the game for another grab! :)

A couple things about the tag map...

1: There are two pages(in case you didn't notice) which sucks trying to find a good spot to place the tag

and

2: It hasn't been updated in quite some time and I don't know if it ever will.

Somewhere in the not too distant past we passed 200 tags.

Thanks. I've got it about where I want it. Put on some extra protection, wired it for a heated vest, I've gotten the heated grips installed, and have it set up for a set of hard panniers for when I want to haul more crap.

Those Marchesini rims don't take to well to hitting rocks at speed though... Have to learn to slow down in the rough stuff on it. :(

welcome windblown........awesome bike. I will trade ya for a leg over the ducati some day if you would like. A used 990 at Valley cycles has my attention but having never ridden one I cant commit.

Grab

What a beautiful morning for a ride in the country!

Found the little quacker near Morning Star Lutheran Church on Morning Star Rd west of Mt. Jackson.

New Tag coming soon.

It's a challenge....

Having technical difficulties

Sorry.

The new lengthy post was nearly finished when my internet died.
I'll post as soon as Comcast gets its act together.

Submitted from my iPhone....

Tag

I was going to place the duck elsewhere, but returning home from Morning Star I took a few promising roads and found a great place to get some challenging rough road experience. This Tag location is NOT SUITABLE for street machines. I made it no problem under dry conditions with 50/50 tires on a 650, but if it has rained by the time you head out there, knobbies would be advisable. Big bore behemoths like the GS or KTM 990 could make it but only with VERY EXPERIENCED riders (IMO - no disrespect intended....well, maybe a little). There are several tight steep gravelly switchbacks that give some excitement. So if you want some fun - go get it!

The name of the very short road leading into this area shares the the name of the place where the great flood of 1889 happened. The route number is a 3 digit "sixer" that adds up to 14. This first road supposedly ends in 1.2 miles, but that is just where the gravel starts and state maintenance ends and the name converts to a double digit federal designation. Continue onward.

After about another 1.1 miles the main road might appear to curve left, but forge straight onward ....

Until you see this intimidating (or thrilling - depending on your mood) sign:

Continue onward until the gravel appears to turn left again, taking any of many opportunities to catch some air along the way.

But this time make the left .....

.....and prepare for the track to get exciting.

Follow the track upwards until you break out into a flatter, partially cleared area at the top of the ridges with trees blazed in red and purple - approximately 2.5 miles from asphalt.

Note the second large tree about 40 ft to the far right of my bike with the rocks at the base.

Same large tree seen straight over the GPS with the purple blaze about 8 ft off the ground.

The duck is at the base of that tree under the middle of 3 rocks.

Now covered:

And from farther back:

The track up would be coming in to this photo from your right.

This area is very inviting - I've gotta go back with a riding buddy and a spare inner tube to explore this more.

Hope you enjoy the ride as much as I did. But remember to stay on the trail unless you're wearing blaze orange.
