I stopped and saw a WWII memorial - read the story - it's crazy.

My Grandad was a WWII veteran.

I'm picking up a light rain again... But that's ok - I'm about a 1/2 hour from my buddy Ryans' place.

Numbers for today. I got a little carried away, riding in the "zone" for a while this afternoon.

Ryan cooked up a great dinner on the stove in the garage.

yeah, we were into the beers pretty good.

I'm in Franklin, W. VA at this point.
Great stuff, Scottsux!

BTW, new travel trick is run any charger-type cords through the handle of any bag I have in the room. That way if I forget the cord I prolly forgot everything else, too.

Ryan should sell this to the Food network. "Garage Gourmet".

I took Sunday as a breather from riding the bike, and it was pouring down rain in central PA, easy decision.

Good day to take a break. Ryan + I decide out to b'fast is the way to go. Off to the Diner-22!

The Lilacs are in full bloom down south.

A couple of Ryans' freinds come over, to weld on the car, fix some motorized bikes, and empty some beer cans.

&nbsp
&nbsp

We had quite the day of it.

Monday morning, I have wheels rolling at 6am. Light rain. I knew this was going to be the deal today. Long way home in the rain, I better spice it up with some local Tag-o-Rama action. Turns out the PA tag is about an hour north of Tyrone, on route to the north.

Don't want to end up here in a stripey suit. SNAG!

Nice grab on the PA tag!

After getting the tag at the PA boot camp, further research showed the Adirondack Tag was WAAAAAAYYYY out west on the border of the Adirondack park. AND, the glob of wet weather I was in extended towards Albany, so if I took the direct route home, I was sure to be in it all day.

I drop the PA tag near the NY border, at a monument to Joseph Smith, who has a monument back home in VT.

So, I hauled it due north on the I-81 (I know, I know......) Blasted through the front somewhere around Syracuse, and then I could see blue sky. Time to swap gloves out for a dry set. My 7 year old stitch was keeping me dry, I was a little worried, as it's getting pretty tired.

Outside Watertown, NY - I get the ADK tag. SNAG!!!

In Watertown, I poach some wifi at the Best Western, letting my Bride know that I'm headed for home, albeit the roundy-round way.

I had a nice cruise over Rte 3 through the Adirondacks, about 61 degrees and mostly sunny. A nice change from the 6.5 hours I spent in the rain this morning.

I drop the ADK tag here - about as far as you can go from where I snagged it earlier in the day.

I get to the Essex ferry dock at 6 pm - planning to catch the last boat at 6:15. Note the sign sez I'm a half hour late, SOL.

Turns out, I was reading the Plattsburgh/Burlington ferry schedule online, and *it* is the one that runs last boat at 6:15. Not the one I'm at......

Gonna be a long ride home from Essex, NY. I can't remember the deal with the Crown Point ferry, so I opt to just slide down the Northway (going south!!! ) to Lake George, and then back to VT. My two hour ride home just turned into a 4 hour ride home.

(pull out wick, and light it up!!!)

16 hours after climbing on the bike this morning, I roll in to the yard at 10pm.

838 miles for the day, 2 tags, and a bunch of nice SMOOTH roads.

Final commentary coming soon..........

Welcome home MZ.

Nothing like a cross continent ride to blast the winter cobwebs away...

Better a long day on the GS than ride in todays weather.

Awesome trip... Thanks for bringing us along.

For future reference, they're running ferries there 24/7, free of charge.

Great RR -- especially enjoyed the BRP part, as I'll be down there in just over two weeks.
