Day tripping...Nelson to Kaslo

Hey MrC - what kind of camera did you get....and what kind of ADV Bike have you got your eye on?

I had the pleasure of working for Steve B. at High Terrain Heli in Nelson last summer.

Awesome town, and fantastic area, as well as Great people!

Hopefully I will return as the fire hazard intensifies once again this spring... possibly ride the bike out there this time.

I've got a Nikon D300 and spent some extra $$ for good glass. For wide angle, I bought a Tokina 12-24mm which suits my needs on the DX body.

As far as a new ride goes, I've always liked the 1200GS. I've ridden from the Metro Vancouver area to Salt Lake City for the WSBK races on my Daytona 650 with no problems. I took all the Destination Highway roads there and back and it was a blast, no aches or pains at all. I'd like to do some longer trips including some roads where the pavement ends. As I was riding down the DH roads to SLC I'd often see a dirt or gravel road leading off into the bush and thought, "I wonder where that road goes?" I've been riding fully-faired sportbikes for about 14 years now and I feel that it is time for a change.

I'm checking out the BMW demo rides this weekend.

Good excuse for a cross country bike trip!
A few years ago one of the Martin Mars water bombers was stationed here for the fire season....an amazing monster of an amphibious airplane...Early one morning I kayaked up and took a few pics.

hey Obsidian...thanks! I'm still planning a trip over before you hit the road to pick up that laptop memory if you still have it then....I'm thinking I might take the longish way via Trout Lake this time....

NO! Don't mail it! Me picking it up is an integral part of a thin list of flimsy excuses to take a few days off, ride over to the Okanagan, and do another ride report!
