What a shame! And we wonder why we have out of control state/federal budgets? The "use it or lose it" mentality ingrained in government spending, is irresponsible, to say the least. They even stated that they have no plans to continue any further out the road; so why bother in the first place? Not to mention, losing yet another stretch of gravel to ride on. Paving gravel roads, and straightening out twisties, should be illegal!!!

The area they are talking about paving is always sluffing off over by the copper river.I hope they build up the base a bit if they are going to pave it or not. That area avalanched earlier this season and the road was closed.

You want primitive dirt roads go to Prince of Wales Island about 2500 mi dirt logging roads

Don't

Don't believe everything you read. I was just out there last week...twice. The road is still gravel from Chitini to McCarthy. That section they were talking about is a semi-chip-seal. It's not a full chip seal. The rest of the road was great and still fun to ride!

Four of us just got back from McCarthy yesterday. The road was 3/4" crush from the old campground 1/2 mi. above the C.R. bridge to Kuskalana? bridge. The rest was in the best shape I've seen in years. Perfect weather to.

Thanks for the road reports guys, sounds like it's good to go. Any road crews still working on it?
