Eight Month Report

Zero issues after 3500 hard miles this summer. I love them and would not like to go back to not having them. They also make you very conscious of where your feet are on the pegs at all times. They definitely help with arm pump but at the expense or more leg fatigue but it all comes down to conditioning.

That inane remark about the pegs patent rights is way offbase. They don't even make them for XR650R's. But if he wants to wait for them to get around to making them for a bike that has been out of production for 3 or 4 years than he can go stick his thumb up his ass and wait. That isn't the way I do things though.

As to drilling frames for attachment, non technical types should avoid using power tools. When I did mine I found the casting to be quite thick and able to sustain good threads.

Spoke with a frame guy yesterday...

Spoke with an XR650R expert, and a couple others in the biz-Confirmed the unsound nature of drilling into these frames. Should not be done.

best version of this idea?

Seems to me the best version of this idea is LegPegs by far. They are considering making a set for the big XR but the tooling setup, development and testing is 5 figures.

IMHO, one look at the various products in this category and the LegPegs are the only one that appear to be properly designed and manufactured. So many big guys buy and ride the XR for ergos that the XRR would be the perfect application for this.

If there's enough interest perhaps they might do it. http://www.legpegs.com/
