Think Mezo might be getting fed up of me hijacking his thread so better start my own...

Been looking for a 3AJ for ages to rebuild & spotted this on another site..

this had been bought as a basket case by Bruce, & built up to be known as the Green Queen

anyway I bought it sight unseen....

I got it home...

with a few spares & extra bits

& so I proceeded to get it stripped down as much as pos before my shoulder operation on the 23rd of april....

So before I dragged it in the garage to start I gave it a good thrash around.

The engine sounds as sweet as a nut, so will be leaving that alone.
The brakes

ummm there aint any......

I bought one of these, brand new for £1650, in 1988 for my first european ride, had planned my route, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Austria down to Monaco & up the coast all the way to Spain, then a ride back up thro France home.
I got Givi panniers, tent, etc,etc... then a week before the trip my father in law got seriously ill & we had to dash up North for a few weeks.... so i never made the trip.
A few months later I part ex'd it for a ZX10, regretted it ever since & been looking for one for a while now, so inspired by Mezo's rebuild am gonna do one too.

so I started.....

oh only 27,000 miles by the way

Thats as far as I got before my op. Stuck at home at the mo too so can,t do anything 'cos the bikes at work....
Will go up later today for a tinker.

Bonus on the bike is that Bruce fitted a kick start

hmmm dunno 'bout that, don't think I can keep up with mezo on the funnies.....

Got a bit done today, airbox & oil tank off, found my first seized bolt..

the bottom one on the engine sprocket cover.... bloody screw head all chewed up.... oh well try again tomorrow...
