Dealing with Sena support is a little frustrating, but they're granting me an RMA. It's just time consuming. I started the process on Wednesday, and they invariably reply to my emails at the end of their day (they are in California, and I'm in Michigan). At this point, it looks like I'll need to send them my mounting bracket via the RMA process (still waiting on a number), and they'll send me a replacement. I'll have to wait until Monday for the RMA code, then send it on Tuesday. Overall, I'm guessing two to three weeks without the convenience of in-helmet intercom, music, and phone.

Moral of the story... there may be a fault in the plastic mounting bracket. Check yours for cracks before it breaks. I was lucky that the bluetooth unit fell off the helmet when I wasn't riding, or else I would have been left with pretty much nothing.

I'll post an update when the whole issue is resolved.
Like JRWooden noted, the curved shape on the back of the clamp is not compatible with every helmet. Some helmets are flatter than others, so for those we suggest the adhesive mounting plate. Helmets with a thick lower edge trim, like Nolan's or Schuberth's and Shoei Neotec's with the neck rolls, are better suited to the adhesive mount.

If the BT unit requires anything but the slightest pressure to clip on, and does not snap off with utter ease, this indicates that clamp is distorted, and will likely lead to one problem or another. This clamp distortion, we believe, also contributes the numerous connection issues we see with the pogo pins and the printed circuit contacts in the clamp.

The Adhesive mount plate spaces the clamp away from the helmet surface, and can mate to the contours of various helmets more readily, since it is flexible and has 'index lines' in the plastic to permit it to flex.

I am sure Sena will take care of you, and we can help with a clamp swap if you're in a time crunch.

The adhesive works well securing the Sena to on my Nolan, 20,000 + miles still secure.

Sena SMH10B from Rocketmoto

I just wanted to thank Adam and the team at RocketMoto for their world class customer service from beginning to end re: my recent purchase of a pair of Sena's SMH10B headsets. I'd definitely recommend RocketMoto to anyone considering the purchase of communication gear, lighting, etc.

Love a BT headset

If Sena SMH10 or 11 can do stereo music, pair with Zumo and iphone through zumo, I want one.

Please PM me with details on units, price and how to order. I'm ready.

I would like some info too!

By the way, I find it amusing that the last two posters have a total of almost 10 years on ADV, and a combined total of 14 posts - lurkers extraordinaire!

+1 to the above 3 posts..

Would love to get my hands on an SMH10 unit.

Just wondering if I need the earbud kit if I want to change the stock speakers?
Would probably get the detachable mic as well...

Thanks!

Easiest way is if you PM us and we'll reply back with details. The email and PM's exceed 100/day.

Thanks!

Does anyone know where to get extra foam wind blockers for the mics? I have tried to email Sena several times but they never bother to reply and I can not find any online.

They are called microphone socks, wind socks, or windsocks...

Just ordered online, and got a call back a few minutes later. Apparently their website is pretty hosed (database problems) and they won't be able to process orders online for a time.

Just thought I'd let everyone know. Order by phone, or wait a bit.
