Thanks for all the compliments everyone!

Hummer

We finish up at the museum near closing time at 5 pm. It's hot and there's no shade at the camp, so let's go for another short ride.

We check out the Saguaro National Park and find a little dirt.

We rip back down McCain Loop Road...

...to our camp.

Playing with the Camera

matt decides he wants to play with MY camera.

I prove I'm the King of the Picnic Table.

Next thing I know he's running off into the desert...

...to get this shot.

I show Matt how to do this.

FAIL!

Cut!

Ok......

An Apparition

It was a horrible sunset and too cloudy to shoot stars. So much for the weather forecast of clear skies. I tell Matt of the plan for tomorrow. He goes to bed to dream of flight.

Very nice pics.

I used to live in Flagstaff and we'd go to Queen Creek and environs on climbing trips when the desert was in bloom. Beautiful place.

Eh? Day 3, Shooting Birds

I go for a walk alone while Matt sleeps in. I found a few Gila Woodpeckers.

Wake Up!

Finally!

We ride back through Gates Pass...

...to Tucson, where we found a breakfast joint with KTM Orange.

It was a short ride across town to the...

...Pima Air Museum.

Let's go see what's inside.

I love the latest advancements in Stealth Technology.

It wouldn't be a proper Air Museum without a nod to the originals. The last Air Museum Matt and I visited was with his Great Uncle Ben in Lelystad, Holland. That was several years ago. That was a really nice museum as well, but focused more on civil aviation. They had better displays and examples of real early planes (Wright Brothers through WW1). Lots of Fokkers, of course.

Suddenly motorcycling seems tame...

This is what I was looking forward to the most. SR-71 It was worth the price of admission for this one!

The float planes were cool. I have no idea what he is doing.

I wanted to steal this for the KTM.

Fantastic!

My 9 year old will barely stay in the same room as me. I'm envious.

Birds with Guns

Ball Turret

Bomb Bay

A veteran proudly shows off his old office as a bombadier.

You could walk for miles looking around here. We didn't.

Matt contemplates what life would be like as a Ball Turret Gunner.

That was cool. Back on the road we stop to have lunch with a black and white bear. I have one more surprise in store for Matt on the road home.

Love the Sky Crane, you should see one drop 5,000 gallon buckets of water.

Falling from the Sky

After a short high speed run on I-10 we jump off at Eloy, Arizona. I find Skydive Arizona where we watch the seemingly never-ending supply of bodies falling from the sky.

Country Roads lead to the 2 lane highways. In no time we are in the Phoenix Metro and...

...Home

Matt's Longest Trip. 450+ miles in 2.5 days. His biggest complaint? I apparently stop too much. The temp was 94 degrees. We'll have to start heading to the high country soon.

Thanks for following along with our little journey and your comments.
