People buying a new motorcycle will be able to deduct the sales tax on their 2009 federal returns. The American Motorcyclist Association said:

The sales and excise tax deduction applies to motorcycles purchased between Feb. 17 and Dec. 31, 2009, with a GVWR (gross vehicle weight rating) less than an 8,500 lbs., and costing less than $49,500.

What kind of bike would squeak in under the 8500lb & $49k mark?

We would have this kind of treatment, if we had a decrepit motorcycle industry that manufactured crap so bad, even the Americans stopped buying it...

Kevin threw hundreds of millions of our money at Toyota, to build hybrid Camrys in Japan, pull them apart again, sail them to Melbourne, and then screw them back together. And millions more at Holden, so that the fuck-awful Cruze can be built in Australia instead of Korea so it costs the same as a VW Golf and offers half the quality, performance or economy.
