600 V4 project anyone? Check this out.

So my shop mate Chris is building a new bike. It was originally supposed to be a bike to compete in the Moto2 class until the retarded powers that be canned the prototype concept in favor of slow 600 Honda's. Boring.

Anyway, Chris is pushing ahead with the bike and I thought there might be some folks here who'd like the link to his blog and would be interested in following along and watching a complete prototype race bike being born. He's not only designed, built and tested the chassis he's now making his own engine and sand casting cases of his own design.

Here's a cad drawing to pique your interest:

And the blog link:

http://moto2-usa.blogspot.com/

Unlike Motocyzz Chris is not a millionaire but he's a true motorcycle fanatic and genius engineer who's really spent time figuring this stuff out. Chris has not only built three complete race bikes but he's put his own ass in the saddle and raced them too.

Knowing ADV I thought there might be a few souls who'd find this interesting.

You bet.

I met Chris a few years ago at Summit Point when he and Todd were running the Ducati-headed Rotacular. He struck me as one bright dude.

Reinventing the Two Wheel!

Gregor: Cool project, good luck. Talk about reinventing the wheel! Just the CAD work is amazing, I can't imagine the time making all the parts, then putting them together.
Where's the RallyMoto Safety Triangle?

Ah you joke but I've got a promise from Chris that I'll get an engine to develop into an Adventure bike. I think a that there would be a lot of people interested in a 350lb. 150hp adventure bike. Obviously I would need to come out of retirement and shake it down at the Rally Moto series! Maybe not this year but next.

Imagine something LC4 sized but 50% more power than the 950. Wonderfully excessive!

That bike looks crazy! So when you say he put his own butt in the saddle, were you implying there's a functioning prototype of this thing? If so....POST PICTURES! It sucks that the Moto2 folks put the kibosh on the project .

No running prototype yet. The cases are coming back from the casting place and will begin machining. Chris is hoping for a running bike this summer some time.

The bike he rode was the last version and the one he did chassis development on. It was a Rotax bottom end in his own chassis mated to a Ducati 1098R top end to make a desmo single. I shot some photos for Chris last year.

I've ridden that bike and it was a great handling machine. I was always pretty good on the brakes and on that bike no one could ever out brake me. It was so smooth and stable.

The real beauty of this V4 is that it won't be appreciably wider than the single so it will be a very compact bike.

Is there any possibility of a 1,000cc, 81mm bore version of that V-4 being created to race in MotoGP when the new rules go into affect in 2012??

Regardless, the 600cc machine looks pretty sweet, as does the single-cylinder machine...

...wow. It's amazing that he designed and built that. What a cool bike, even cooler experience! Keep us posted when he gets the full V4 shebang-a-bang together.

Funny, I just watched Britten Bike Story - One Man's Dream on youtube. I visited this thread and it reminded me of the documentary, then I check out Team Incomplete's site and saw "Britten worshipers" LOL.

Yes please. Being poor, I can only hope you'd accept payment in testicles. I'll give you my left one. Let me know when it's ready... I'll be sharpening my knife.
