Kim and Mike's 2010 Most Excellent Adventure Ride to Lava & Ice (Iceland Redo)
We can't believe that it's already been almost a year since we last left Iceland. Well we had such a great time last year that we figured we have to cover portions we missed and re-do the parts we really liked. So we are going to turn back the Wayback machine
![]() And go back. Since then, a few things have happened that you may be aware of. Something like... Nonetheless, we're going back to see what we can see. You can read or oggle last years ride report or pics at http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=443916 . We're going to try to get a view of the volcano, spend some time with the geysers and falls that we missed, and a bit more time in the interior overall. Kim's done a lot more off road riding since last year and she is more and more confident with her off road skills so the speeds will be up and we'll be able to cover some trickier and more total terrain. There's another trip planned for November that will use those skills some more, but it's a super duper secret so I can't talk about it yet. ![]() (No you will not get so much as a peep or a chirp out of Secret Squirrel) But I promise that it will be fun and I will try to write a most excellent ride report. So where would two people like us go riding in November... More info as we get closer to our early June departure. Hey Kim, do you remember where I put our asbestos riding suits?

Getting the bikes ready for Iceland
Getting the bikes ready for Iceland. Looking at this one for the ride. Quite appropriate don't you think? Thought perhaps ADVers might give it a bit of a chilly reception. Anyway, its a cool machine. Not sure about the off road stuff though, or using it near the volcano.

Hi
Great to see that you guys are going to visit Iceland again. Hope you enjoy this trip as much as your last one. As before, if you need anything just send me a pm. Best regards Atli. ps. Most of the roads in the interior are still closed. Here is a map that shows which ones are open. http://www.vegagerdin.is/media/umfer...rd/Halendi.pdf |

Thanks Atli,
We're raring to go and we're sure we are going to have a great time again. It looks like they just updated the map and now we can ride Route 35 which was closed just yesterday. Awesome! Perhaps this time we'll get to meet. Thanks again, Mike and Kim

welcome to Iceland
Hi, and welcome to Iceland, The weather this spring has been great but the not all of the roads on the highlands are open yet. Check out the map on www.vegagerdin.is to see which ones are open. If you click on the map in the top right corner you see which ones are still close. Ride safe and check the weather forcasts often.
