Won't be long till it's KM time. I spent the holiday near KM about 2000' lower. Very little snow visible up on the Kern plateau. I would have gone up there, but it would have been a long ride on the trail 70 !

Have you installed the upgraded footpeg bolts on your KLR? It's a fairly common failure point on that bike.

Are you talking about the two bolts that mount the pegs to the frame or the one that the peg pivots on? The PO said he installed upgraded pivot bolts but I ordered the ones for the DR650 (DR650 pegs). If it's the lower ones then no, I haven't. I may need to stop at Hillco Fasteners on my way out of town Friday.

Beautiful pictures and videos! I've never been out there before. I need to make an appearance at the orifice tomorrow so no go.

Frame bolts.
Pic Hijacked from DONR,

These are the ones that break off. Bill's right peg broke off while he was standing on it on Mengal pass. His was a 99 klr. I saw a 2008 klr in Alaska that broke in the same place. The problem is that they break off inside the frame so usually they can't get them out without a drill and easy outs. I think the usual prevention is to replace them with high strength bolts. KLR650.com sells them, or check the KLR threads in thumpers forum.
