New Zumo 665 Install
Long time reader, first time poster so...hi.
Anyway, I just got my new Zumo 665 in the mail and I'm getting ready to install. Any tips from the guys (or girls...sorry) with the 660? I ride a 2008 BMW 1200GS. I am planning on direct wiring to the battery. Also, it has this MASSIVE Xm radio antenna. Any thoughts as to where to put that thing? I know what you are thinking, but...

Wherever you put the GXM40 antenna make sure it's away from the GPS unit - the manual tells the minimum distance, I'd double that just to be safe. The XM radio circuitry and GPS itself don't play well together - you'll have no XM signal if you don't pay attention to that.
Also check out the 660/665 area on www.zumoforums.com
There is a LOT of info on there.
I'm waiting for MY 665 and other goodies from Touratech to arrive at the house -- then I have to get MYSELF home as well so I can play with it!

(Where do you have your Garmin GXM 30 mounted)
On my FJR (or any mirror hole) you can mount a RAM #RAM-B-272U or #RAM-B-252U under the mirror (or other ram mount) and bolt the RAM diamond base to the plate that comes with the GXM.
I ground the mounting tabs off the GXM plate, re-powder coated, and used a short RAM arm. It's kind of out in the breeze above the clutch master, but it always gets good signal. The wires are cable tied back to the GPS.
