Three days to the Smokies.

I took highway 50 east through IL and IN and 150 to Lexington and stayed Monday night in Meadstowne KY.

I went south from there Tuesday morning and rode through the Daniel Boone Forest on the way to the Cumberlain Gap.

Nada Tunnel.

Five minutes on the side the the road with a camera in my hand and 2 different poeple stopped to make sure I was OK. That doesnt happen in St. Louis if you have a wrench in your hand.

Went into the Smokies Tuesday evening and rode through Cades Cove.

This guy was in the creek just across from the church.

Ate in Pigeon Forge. Alice wasn't working.

Stopped at Nashville on the way home Wednesday.

Also in Puducah KY.

I did about a mile on that road that is a two way road through the middle of Cades Cove. I put them on just before the GS Challenge and changed the rear to a Tourence on the way back home in Knoxville. The center knobs were about gone.

There was about 30 poeple standing around. He was about 30 feet away and I didn't think I was nervous. But all the bear shots were a little blurry.

Todd,
Nice pics! Wish we would have crossed paths down there. Although, I was southeast of you most of the time. I cut into the Smokeys at Chattanooga. Was on 4 lane until then. I ended up hitting 129 (the same road as the Dragon) only I was south of the Dragon. Still a lot of fun down there.
If you go back, there is a gravel road, I think it's called wolf mountain pass, or something close to that. (Garmin found it) pretty fun on the GS/A..
Also take Cove Creek Rd from near Waynesville (off of 40) into the park, 20+ miles of pretty easy gravel.. I did see a bear, but he/she was so fast I could not get a pic..
Here's a pic from along the Cove creek rd..

The GS challenge you spoke of, was that in 2010 at Honz's place. I believe you let me drive your GSA to check out the TKC's and your new risers. I also had the same year and color GSA as you have. BTW I got a set of TKC's for the bike and have a spare set in the garage. Love them. Still have not got the risers, but I have long arms.
Good to see you again, I think I will do the GS Challenge again if time permits. Since you are in the STL area, maybe we can do the swinging bridges trip next spring.
Take care...
