Calling northern IL ADV riders
My 950 is ready to go but doesn't know where to go. Can you help?
I've primarily been a touring/twisty rider, so I've not looked for DS rides in my area (Sheridan/Sandwich/Somonauk/Plano/Yorkville). Starved Rock SP is about 30 minutes away down IL-71. I haven't ridden dirt/trails in a few years, so take it easy on me. I work from home so I can usually get away for a ride most anytime. I'm online most of the time working so either a post to this thread or a PM will work equally well. Looking forward to meeting some local inmates and learning about some good rides.

Start out by riding some of the tasty gravel roads around you - there's some sweet ones just West of Sheridan. I can get plenty of gravel practice within 5 miles of my home (LaSalle). There's some gravel hills along the rivers. Hunt them out!

Go take a ride over to SHABBONA LAKE, State park and when your leaving the park , you'll be on park road that leads to preserve rd. take that east and after a couple of miles when you come to an intersection just start heading either left or right. that's where I go exploring . hope this helps , also found some roads on gps that looked like only the farmers use once a year, there were gravel roads between corfields on my way back from starved rock. but I didn't mark them on my gps. there may an annoying dog or two chasing you. but on a bike you can tease them and outrun them
