Have a look at them Aussie tyres? Motoz Tractionator H/T,
if you're in for a good grip and ride gravel & sand surfaces a lot. Maybe not the best for tarmac (somewhat noisy). Running them on my 950 SE at the moment. |

Up Date
Well folks, I decided to go with the TKC80 rear ($220.00 NZ) which I thought was good price. After reading varied reports ranging from 3-8000 klms of life it is clear you just have to try it for yourself!
Not sure which front to use but it wont be a TKC at $175.00. The 606 or MT21 look much better value at around $100.00 Will post pictures at the appropriate time. For those who are interested my surgeon is pleased with my progress so I hope to be riding again in 4-6 weeks....in time for the spring rain to stop....ye ha! I am getting a bit hungry for the trails I can tell ya!! Heres a glamorous shot of my xray for ya....at least the screws will come in handy if I'm stuck in the desert in need of some urgent repairs

No front indicators - need to finish bracket for that, incorporate Zumo mount and enough dust/water proof storage for camera/wallet + another dust/waterproof storage for basic tools.
Then must do crash bar to keep front tanks & vulnerable radiator in check for the inevitable "drop"

Tyres
Quote:
last quite good. great on the road, quite dissapointnig off road. will be OK on hard roads but hold very bad when it gets a little sandy. the front just slips. The MT21 were much better and the 606 are even better offroad. I wil not use the TCK again. my next tyre will be MT21, both front and rear. with these tyres I can even go on desert races (amature) and then ride with it to work.

mt21
I've sttreeetchhed my mt 21 to it's limits, 70 paved, 30% off?
at 3800 kms now and it is don, done, done. Rub your hand on it and those gorgeous knobs are not even finger nail high! That said, while I'm going to try other tires just to try, (probably still Pirelli brand, just like them that's all) the mt21 still rides great, and feels confident on the road. Had 26 psi in it since the day I bought it, and I coulda/shoulda lowered psi a few times off road (carry a hand pump all the time anyway...) but was just to lazy I guess, great tire all the way around. I used the MT21 on the KTM and with other thumpers before. Its not the best tyre. it wear unequally which makes it bad vibrating at the end. but it last prety good. I used the last set for around 15K Km. it was'nt prety and bearly legal, but it last. the D606 are better offroad but will not last longer on paved roads. I use my bike on paved roades as everyday comuter and offroad in hard terrain with rocks and some sandy areas.
