Wicked My first grab

DSCN0424

The Old Pacolet Mills site, Pacolet SC. After dinner, I will post the next tagS. A hint: an upstream Grand Slam with lots of history.

New Tag - Upstream Grand Slam with History

Since I am a noobe and I have not reviewed all the previous tags and do not know if what I am humbly submitting is original, I propose the following 4 tags to be grabbed in one trip.

The locations are connected by the waters that flow under the Pacolet Horse. The tags are within 5 miles of each other and in sequence. It doesn't matter which sequence you grab them in. I used my camera clock to give an idea of how close they are. Tag #4 is the easiest to find.

Tag #1: Rebirth
DSCN0425

Tag #2 = #2
DSCN0426

Tag #3 = #1, Dam !
DSCN0429

Tag #4 = How deep was it? The history revealed.

Congrabulations !

Welcome to the madness.

Your new tag is really cool and should be a lot of fun to go and get.
I doubt if it will sit long, but if it's still there this weedend, I'll try to get it.

Well...I think I've figured out your first tag, the other three have me stumped though.

Grab

I almost talked myself out of this one, I didn't want to seem like a tag hog or something. Anyway, I sure am glad I went. I love old dams, I spent a lot of time finding dams along the broad river, but I never paid any mind to the Pacolet, so this was a real treat for me. I took my Atlas and Gazetteer along and found a few nice roads too.

Alright, here we go. I did the tags in reverse order (So I got the history first instead of last).

Tag 4: Intersection of Hwy 29 and Brooklyn Rd.

Tag 3: Near the intersection of River Rd. and Cowpens-Clifton Rd.

Tag 2: The intersection of Beacon Light Rd. and Coopertown Rd.

Tag 1: Beside Lawson's Fork Creek, at the intersection of Clifton-Glendale Rd. and Emma Cudd Rd.

Thanks for this great set of tags, if was a real treat! It was great to read about the Pacolet flood, and then see the sites that were affected.

Quatrograbulations !

Nice job Evinrude. You made quick work of that cool tag.

Don't worry about being a tag hog. The more the merrier. If you've got the time,
go for it.

Great job Evinrude!!!

Tag 1 is the old Glendale Mill on Lawson's fork creek. It burned a few years ago and the area is being re-developed as an outdoor recreation park. Lawson's fork creek flows into the Pacolet River.
Tag 2 is Clifton Mill #2 - This building is on the Pacolet river and is in the process of being dismantled. The beach area and dam are popular swimming and fishing holes with the locals.
Tag 3 is Clifton Mill #1, upstream from Clifton #2 on the Pacolet river. It was dismantles years ago and the only remnant is the foundation and the dam.
Tag 4 is the the depth monument at the Converse Mill. This monument shows the depth of the water during the 1906 flood that devastated the area.

All of this history is in the book Textile Town - available locally.

Below Croft State Park, I think it was Foster Mill Rd or Cir. Only 3-5 miles long, but I ran into it by accident, so it was a nice break from the Hwy.

Hmm, I gotta start making these more difficult. I can't wait for the new tag. The XT needs new rear brake shoes though...
