new tag clue

This old cemetary is located on a small knoll located between the north and south bound lanes of I-85. With headstones made of sandstone, it is belived to be one of the oldest known gravesites in SC. It caused quiet a stir in the early 60s when the Interstate Comission wanted to relocate it. The highway was eventually rerouted around the site and It is still intact today. Several of the grave markers have been traced back over 200 years. There are also several civil war graves located at the site. Find this sign and look north across the interstate and you will see the headstones on the knoll between the north and south lanes of I-85. The sign is on a north, south road running beside the the interstate for several miles. To get to the tag site you must ride up a small grassy hill between the north- south lanes of the interstate. The grass is often quiet tall (2 feet) but the site is easily accessable with a dualsport and can be reached with any street bike. I have rode my Harley Classic there 2 up several times. It has also been used in several Iron Butt rallys as a bonus location.

new tag clues

Note,, The tag is the cemetary headstones not the sign. Here are a couple more photos of the gravesites.

Wow, that is pretty cool. I have been through there hundreds of time through the years and never knew that there was a cemetery there.

Any problems with stopping in the law is behind me?

So just to be clear, the site is between the lanes of interstate, and you have to access it from the interstate? No access road under a bridge or anything?

Congrabulations !

Looks like you've been a busy boy Augiedog. Your new tag is generating
lots of interest and should help keep the game going. Hope you didn't get any poison ivy
up there on the grassy knoll.

cemetary tag

Yes, the tag is between the two lanes . You will have to pull of onto the center of the median to get to it. You will have to be careful getting off and on the freeway, not much of a sholder to use. I think it is a little easier to access going north, and the hill is easier to nagivate. Please be careful I would hate to see anyone get hurt. Also when you get to the site, please be aware it is a very delicate site and is in its natural element, not maintaned. Some of the graves are sunken in and others are hardly visibale untill you are right on top of them. All the gravesites are right on the crest of the hill under the large oak trees.

Does touring sport do good work?

Where are the gravestones? I saw the tag on Google Satelitte this afternoon and the stones are clearly visible. Just asking.
