Welcome to Canada, eh? Drop me a PM if you're gonna be heading through or overnighting in PG. Always a warm bed and a cold brew for ADV'ers coming through town - especially for a fellow DR650-riding inmate!!

Ride safe!

Hi guys, Sorry no pics for a while. I've ridden 9000km in 17 days up to Prudhoe since leaving Vancouver and bushcamped all the way. Very little in the way of www but I'll get some pics up when I get to Vancouver in 7-10 days.

Some good trails in southern BC.

And a big thank you to to inmate GISDood for putting me up in Prince George where oil & filter/air filter/rear tyre/banking/phone home all had to be done before posting pics (which I ran out of time for!)

More soon...

Good stuff is always worth waiting for, not that we like to wait, but, as I say, I know it will be worth it.

Travel safe, we will be here.

I tried your "web site" blog ?? ... could not make heads or tail of it.
Love your Smugmug pics!!!

You're much better off posting everything here: Big pics of better resolution, all chronological, email notifications ... thousands of adoring fans!
Go ADV!

Looking forward to further updates.

Hey Adam,

Glad to have been able to help out! We've had a few ADV'ers come through and do some general maintenance before, but they typically have rides I'm unfamiliar with so I feel a little like a 3rd wheel. It was nice to have another DR650 in the stable that I could help out with!

Brandi and I will be looking forward to seeing more posts and blog updates as you head south to Mexico... enjoy the ride and take care!

Mmmmm.....that's not good. If you're having trouble maybe others are too. Can you remember what didn't make sense? It has a RSS feed for email notifications.

Has anyone else looked at my website and foud it confusing/hard to navigate?

Posting here is ok for all us motoheads but a lot of people read my blog who have no interest in motorcycling.

British Colombia

Once again the glorious t'internet provided a pre-made dual sport route to Alaska in the form of Ride BC Backroads. Unfortunately I arrived in Vancouver some seven weeks later than I'd planned and had to cut a few bits out of the route. A prematurely bald front tyre in Alaska changed the route again and the final nail in the coffin were Canadian prices .

Anyway, southern BC was cracking...

Heading up the west side of Harrison Lake
[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

I descend across a few drainage culverts and came around a curve in the trail to be met with this people carrier facing towards me and a very distressed teenage girl stood next to it. I spoke to the driver - her father - and learnt they were trying to go up the hill but couldn't get across the deeper culvert. I asked why they didn't reverse out the way they'd come and it transpired they'd driven down the hill, couldn't get any further because the culverts got even bigger but had managed to turn around.

I took off my riding gear and helped the girl fill in the culvert with rocks and then lay dead branches across the trail to give the tyres some grip. I could only listen and cringe at the revving/bottoming/crunching/banging as he wheelspan across our handywork and set off up the hill.

Why hadn't the father helped - because he was in a wheelchair and driving his specially converted vehicle!!!!

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

The road closed sign was ominous...
[IMG][/IMG]

...but there was a route around already in place about the width of an ATV
[IMG][/IMG]

Not a bad bush camp that 1st night

BC Cont...

The following morning at Lillooet Lake
[IMG][/IMG]

Heading up the Marshall Lake road
[IMG][/IMG]

Day two of the Ride BC Backroads route had an alternative entitled 'Technical Route'...I couldn't resist it. I opened the gate on the trail alongside Marshall lake road and continued north...
[IMG][/IMG]

Past Mud Lake...
[IMG][/IMG]

...and up a 'way steeper than it looks' climb to what I think was Gaspard Red Mtn road(?)
[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

At the top were a few water splashes, ruts and tree roots
[IMG][/IMG]

Navigation wasn't too clear on the next bit as I discovered with this wrong turn
[IMG][/IMG]

Once I did find my way to the logging road it was plain sailing...
[IMG][/IMG]

...all the way to Farwell Canyon where I found a cracking bushcamp on the southside overlook
[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

Little did I know that the forest fire burning across the canyon would be the shape of things to come...
[IMG][/IMG]

...the following day I rode 310km before I escaped the smoke
[IMG][/IMG]

There's more to come but I'm off to cook some grub...I'll be back!
