My brother in law just sent me a link to this and I almost can't believe it. To be totally honest, I'm not sure I do, still.

Track days in Austin, one of the coolest cities in the world. Sweet.

The tree huggers will have a fit.... I guess they have to build a track?

duh.
For the first time in the history of Formula 1 in the United States, a world-class facility will be purpose-built to host the event,”

I hope that they can pull it off.

I've been saying that DFW has needed a REAL racing facilitiy for the last 30 years.

And what did we get? TMS (NASCAR).

That was my first thought. Having done construction jobs in and around Austin I know how hard it is to get anything approved in that area. Plus they have to do it by the 2012 season. I wouldn't think it would be possible to even get the permits by then, but they've already announced it on the F1 site, so hopefully they're pretty far into it. Man, this is absolutely fantastic news!

Don't be a hater. Come to the IRL race weekend after next - I'll buy you a beer. Ride your bike, motorcycles park closer than handicapped.

being involved with roadracing and karting; I got 15 txts and emails about it today. You dont get to the point of this kind of exposure without having all your bases covered. Im betting it happens. We are really looking forward to having another killer facility to race at. Im hoping GrandAm will host an event there. not to mention all the karting, lemons, ALMS, and superbike possibilities.

Its not so much hate as disappointment. When I said REAL racing, it requires tracks with more than just left turns.

If it happens, Austin is a perfect choice.
