Is Hollister open for trail riding?
Don't mean to sound too uninformed, but that's me, regarding dirt/dual sport riding around Monterey. I have a window of time to escape for a couple days and want to check out Hollister, as I've never been it. Be there tomorrow, Thurs. and Fri.
Is it open?

Hollister is definately open. It's raining here today, possibly
again on Thursday and the dirt should be excellent this weekend. Red Sticker riding season ends May 31st . |

Hollister is a really fun place to ride be it on a dirt bike or a GSA. Weekends can get a little crazy, but week days are awesome. I find the trail rankings out there to be very consistent i.e. green, blue, black.

We really havn't gotten that much rain lately down this way, just enough to settle the dust so I don't think that there will be closures. Maybe some in the Renz but that would just effect dirt bikes and not most dual sports other than those 450 or under, ie. single track.

Thanks for the info. I rolled in yesterday PM and went for a street ride up Cienega past the wineries, (fun twisties there) then the few trails I found open on the eastern side, camping at Walnut. Many trails are closed on Lower Ranch. This morning I rode from the Lodge Camp area up Okie Hill, Peat's path, (no peat moss, but mighty slippery in a couple spots) then hooked up to High Road back down to Madrone Camp.
What a great thing, a whole park just for dirt riding! Lots of graders/other equipment to groom the trails. Many easy trails for the learners, one-way safe for the kids, in addition to some challenging trails for older farts like me. I bailed for camping to San Juan Bautista for softer/easier accommodations at an RV Park here, plus the frickin' rain doesn't want to stop. will return tomorrow morning for a few more hours of dirt fun.
