Great pics

It was good to meet you at the RA rally. I will post pics of my new V2 cases and the Roof Racks soon. It was very nice to have the extra storage space.

Roof Rack + Kriega

At the BMW RA Rally, our friends Bruce and Katie discovered that the Roof Rack makes a perfect mount for their 5 liter Kriega dry bags.

(note: Roof Rack was custom welded for a customer - standard mounting is with stainless steel hardware).

And on that note, Roof Racks are now in stock. Give us a call and order your set today.

Life on Mars

A great post:
Reflections for the month of July
Here are my quick reflections for the month of July:

1. Canadians are really nice people.
2. Americans can still surprise you with kindness.
3. I should have brought my kids with me.
4. Life is for living.
5. I should have done this when I was younger.
6. Riding for a month… HURTS!
7. My kids miss me a lot less than I thought.
8. The native American Indians got the shaft.
9. I have been very fortunate in my life… but by the grace of God, go I.
10. My memories of my marriage are better than the real thing.
11. My kids and their futures are the most important things I will ever have responsibility for.
12. Country music rocks… ARRGGHHH… I can’t believe I’m saying that!
13. I am going to do this kind of thing with my kids every year until they are no longer kids.

A rider at the BMW RA Rally picked up a set of Roof Racks for his Jesse Bags. Here's what he had to say:

I have mounted your Roof Racks on my Jesse bags. They fit well and make it easy to carry the bags off the bike. I had previously placed tie down loops in the top, hence the extras screws that you see in the cover. Thanks again, love the Roof Racks!

1 Minute Micatech Instal

Dave came by the shop today to instal a set of Pilot Cases on his 1200GS. We had some fun with a time lapse video. Enjoy.

Thumb Another Micatech story

Exchanged several emails with Sue from Micatech to place my order, and make sure I had all I wanted, side/top cases, roof racks, liner bags and reflective tape. There was some out of the ordinary logistic to be worked out, and timing was important to me, as the items were ordered from Victoria, BC to be shipped to KY, were my new-to-me GSA was still residing. The plan was to fly to Lexington, install the cases, pick up the bike and ride it back to Victoria, BC.

As we (buyer and seller) were leisurely enjoying a barley pop and installing the side cases, about to mount the roof racks, we opted to first install the pack rack and top case to determine if the roof racks were going to be installed slightly back or slightly forward.

To my disappointment critical hardware pieces were missing from the boxes and we quickly realized that the top box, pack rack, as well as the rest of the stuff that was coming with the bike (originally had planned to stow it in, and tie it to the top box), would have to be shipped to BC; cost $200.00 usd. Also when I ordered the liners I had mistakenly understood that there would be 2 Lg and 2 Sml, where in fact the package was 1 Lg and 3 Sml.

Before I had made it home to BC, the missing hardware and brackets had been delivered to my place along with a gifted Lg liner. The day following my arrival, I email a copy of the shipping bill, and was immediately refunded.

Yup mistakes do happen, so is the nature of life, what also usually happens is a lot of corporate BS. Well not this time, emails sent were promptly and courteously replied to, usually the same day within a couple of hours.

I love the cases, and I am looking forward to our next trip and not having to puzzle our gear in the panniers.

Thank you Micatech, especially Sue for your professionalism

Pilots and Top Case

I'm sold. After a lot of research, the pilot cases will look great on my (new) 05 12gs. But what sold it most of all is MT's customer service!

Now all I have to do is save those nickles and dimes.

Anyone have input on the MT top cases, i.e. small, med, large, mounting position, etc?

thanks

For the top case, I'd recommend you go with the Medium. It will hold one and a half helmets Or you could put one helmet in the right case and one in the top case.

The large is huge and the small holds 1 helmet. I believe the lids on the top cases are removable, so if you want to use it to collect fire wood at your campsite or an impromptu drink cooler.

Mounts, it's personal. For me, the luggage rack location is best. It still leaves you the pillion deck for strapping a big dry bag, or to carry a passenger. If you mount it in the passenger seat location, it's handy as a rider's backrest, but getting on and off the bike means you need to stand on the pegs and swing your leg over the case.

I mounted my V2's on my 800GS on a 2 up trip through Colorado this summer and the cases were excellent. Of course, I wished I had more room like I did when I had the Pilot cases..

I will be using the same V2 cases on my next bike, the Yamaha XT1200 SuperTenere. I also need to post some pics of the 800GS with the V2's.

Here's the Large on my old bike:
