TW-200 and KLX-250 Hit Wharton 5/26

Extra contacts....Check....Wallet....Check....Cell phone...DOH! I run upstairs for the third time....Check..OK, I'm loaded up for a quick 20 minute ride to Sleepy Hollow where I will be meeting Duane for what promises to be a great ride in the NJ Pine Barrens.

A six year old boy gapes at me at a red light. He must think I'm a Power Ranger with my full off-road gear on. Before too long I arrive at Duane's house and load up the TW-200 into his van. It's 7:30am and it's already 75 degrees. Good thing I learned about Camelbacks.

We enjoy a nice uneventful ride down the NJ Turnpike to Exit 6 where we ate a hearty breakfast. We then turn onto rt 206 South and take this another 30 minutes to the Ranger station at Atison where we parked the truck and unloaded

I must tip my hat to TomN, Motogon, NJ-Bill, Woodsk, Looksgoodinblack, Mirmil and a few other inmates who let me know about Atison. I had the pleasure of trying to keep up with these guys Thanksgiving Weekend with my (ex)Beemer. These boys can ride. All I ever saw of them was their tailpipes and when one of them was patiently waiting for me at the next turn so I wouldn't get lost.

Aside from it being a tad hot, the conditions were very good. While there were still dozens of deep mud puddles and water crossings, it seemed that there was just a fraction of the water I had seen on previous trips. Also, the sand seemed to be tamer and less deep.

Duane is enjoying several mods to his KLX to make it a better Pine Barrens bike, including Kenda sand tires and lowering the beast to a manageable 32"

I buried the TW in one like that......Sorry I didn't get any pictures, but I took a header. It felt sooo good in the 90 degree plus heat..My wallet swelled up to the size of a brick, but remarkably my cell phone survived.

Some of you may have noticed the lack of front fender on my '07 TW and wondered how it affected the ride....I ate dirt and mud all day. Leave the fender on.

After several hours of fun, a gnarly trail spits us out onto Rt 206..........We take a right and stop for lunch at the Pica Lilly Bar and Grill.........Ice Cold Magic Hat on tap!! I limited myself to 2 of the frosty beverages and had some tasty ribs.
