I don't normally comment on ride reports because I feel it's just unnecessary clutter but I have to make an exception in this case.
Brilliant, absolutely brilliant.
Merci bien.

WOW! A whole new meaning to Adventure.

Brilliant posts, pics and epic journey. Thanks for sharing.

Makes most of the other ride reports (including mine) seem like a merry go round ride at Disney world.

Well it took a while, good part of last night and today first thing, but I got through the whole report. I couldn't stop reading about this trip !

Impressive indeed. It's all been said, but still I must say truly amazing adventure, excellent layout, style, photos, bike reports (800GS - amazing...) and a great look into this land and it's people. The photos were truly outstanding as well given the circumstances and effort it must have been at times.

What else can be said ~ awe.some !!! Much thanks for sharing.

[edit] ps: small question, but as a photographer, I am curious what camera(s) you brought along ? They seemed to hold up pretty well.

Most people I know run for cover in the face of a few mosquito bites, are exhausted after weeding the garden and have to eat about 5 meals a day to be happy.

MJ and Hennie stretched the limits of human physical endurance. Rode hard through some of the least friendly terrain on the planet on about a meal and half a day. Got pretty well drilled by bugs the likes most of us will happily never see, including at least one that looked like it would consider a riding helmet a soft target. All in the name of an adventure.

And to top it all off had the wits to take some amazing pictures and write this ride report to keep us all entertained.

Men like this are very few and far between. If I ever get the honor to run into you guys I will happily buy the beers.

Awe.Some.

Thank Dog Baldy or whoever linked this on the ADV menu bar.

I am unworthy of the moniker "Adventure Rider" in the presence of MJ and Hennie.

Now to read his other Ride Reports.

Nearing the Lukusuzi river, things are overgrown again and we mess around to and fro within 1km from the river crossing but battle to find it....

When we do the whole village had gathered. Clearly this river has a history. When a vehicle comes this way they know there is money to be made....

I insist that I don’t want my luggage or bike carried over and give it my best shot..... Not much of a shot. As the bike digs in you can hear the whole village cheering.... Hennie tries another line.... But the Lukusuzi will have none of it.....

Here we have the first disagreement with the locals, they are clearly out to make some money off this and they want an exorbitant amount for their efforts...

This pisses me off in principle so we pay them enough to buy two beers between the nine of them.
We got the impression that for most of your trip, people were appearing out of the jungle to help you every time you needed some extra muscle, until this bit about the villagers insisting on being paid. Did you pay the other helpers as well or were they mostly just good samaritans?
