uhhh...you see problems before i get to them. Nice.
Hmm...maybe the pump from the RC8 would be enough, it may even fit the safaris. Edit: Just checked with the parts microfiche. They look very much the same 990 efi pump vs 1190 pump. LocuL screwed with this post 12-15-2012 at 07:11 AM |

There are some threads around here about people switching to an external FI pump, I think CJ was looking into making an adapter plate for the tanks that have a FI pump hole. There are adjustable pressure regulators that may let you use a FI pump from another vehicle on the KTM. But yeah, the simple solution is to use a LC8/RC8 fuel pump in there, and I'm guessing they'll be fairly pricey on ebay, since there are plenty of people that want a spare.

Hey Mikael,
I had the same issue with the suspension/swingarm/rear exh header/sidestand relocator. I cut a notch in the bar between the 2 mount points and it was no problem. Sure its very tight but it works and Im still keeping the 2 mounting points.

Speaking to safari tanks a while back about fuel pumps they told me some of the dakar riders were using a fuel pump and reg from a suzuki quad racer 450lt or something like that. The pumps and reg were available on ebay or the like pretty often when I looked and the price was about right. Might be an idea if you plan to mount it outside. I looked at it for my suzuki project and found that the post reg pressure was pretty similar to most bikes i found details on suzuki/honda etc.

Thanks for advice Tileman, but the 1190/990 fuel pump looks the way.
As i maybe have a running engine this comming week i´ve been working on tidying up cable and loose bolts here´n there. I admit this have been some free styling. Need to mount the EFI bridge stable and correct. It went fairly well without to much work. One problem that i now, for the first time could see the baseplate from the ITG airfilter would clash with my frame. Hey...i suck at this... ![]() ![]() you can tell by the picture that this is way to the right. God Da..... Cost me a new baseplate(27£). Frame rubbing. ![]() Something that went ok was the mounting of the temp sensor in the airbox which doesn´t matter now. ![]() I have been looking into cooling options and what solution might be the best. I have no idea how hot this engine will be, but if i could double the cooling factor(2 x fans) it would be great. The size of the fans does have something to say in this. More on this later with some pictures. |

This got out ![]() 1 hp for this... ![]() But that might the 1 hp that i need to get above 150 rear wheel ponies. SOoooo VERY important.

Those MAPs (Manifold Absolute Pressure) are one for each cylinder, they send a home signal to the ECU so that it knows which cylinder is inducting and which is exhausting. They work different to a car MAP in that they work as a switch. A car will inject fuel based on the MAP reading. The bike cannot do this as unlike a car that uses a plenum chamber to dampen the (4,6,8,) pulses the bikes single cylinder pulses to much for such a device to function. The tooth wheel on the crank gives degrease before top dead centre (TDC).... the third is atmospheric pressure. It will tell the ECU what to compensate for altitude and temperature along with the temp sensor.
This is just for your knowlege.... That fuel pump was.... interesting

Mr K2M i stand corrected and thanks for the MAP efi knowledge.
Holy m..... There is a steep learning curve in this project. Even when an airfilter baseplate is troublesome to mount. wow. But then again the baseplate is ordered with some other bits. My temp sensor will not fit were i put it when i place it right.

I have these plates back in stock. We made another small batch. They bolt to the Aqualine tanks and have 2 pipe thread fittings so you can hook up a pull and return line or plug as needed. Plus no more Rubber gasket that leaks so bad. We use these on our carbed bikes and get rid of the main petcock. This is a great tap to get fuel for your camp stove, drain your tanks, or transfer fuel to another bike.

It would be really cool if you had that plate with a large filter sock fixed to the inside over the fittings. And if there was an attainable, affordable external fi pump + regulator. Or did i miss something?
