Morning from Denmark

The engine, incl all electrics will be shipped to Austria in a couple of weeks. This is huge, because the engine builders have been super busy winnning the sidecar racing in Austria...running a tuned RC8R.
Lots of discoveries have been told by the engine EFi tuner, Stefan.

First of all the engine wil be shipped to the garage in a couple of weeks where it will be disassembled. Case will be split and the 1190 Adv gearbox will get mounted. Revising the cylinder heads, valve seats enlarged and flow optimized. Outlet/inlet channels revised(to fit valves seat and intake), Combustion chamber roof modified, Cylinder heads ground flat and the required compression made. It wil be done to suit normal pump gas ala 95 octane.

Stefan will be making/modifying my ECI, immobilizer and injectionbridge. As told before it will be 54mm instead 52mm. I have had some succes withese parameters in other RC8-based engines. Interesting part is that my RC8(up to 11) ECU/immobiliser are way more tuneable than the 2011 and upward. This means that he will be able to turn off the immobiliser and tune each cylinder a bit better. How...i cant explain the process and i dont care. As long its going to be my entre to my dream sports tourer. The idea of not having the immobiliser is a huge Yes from my point of view. His electronic recommendation is the powercommander system as it should be able to tune each cylinder.
For more torque he mention the intakes. For each 2.5cm of intake the engines max output is lowered by 750 rpm. That is of course an rough calculation but give a good direction.
We have talked about the airfilter system. He asked which system i would like to use. Ive said that i havenmade up my mind yet. I have been thinking of the Rottweiler system. Stefan suggests the original filtersystem with the RAM system. Im not sure if i can do that due my tanks size and shape. But ill give it a look. Filtering and exhaust is my big concerns if i want to keep some good HP numbers.

This is going to be interesting. Pricing is comming in the near future for this. Im not sure if it makes sense to post it but might give a good idea of other engine tuners how much none turboed HP costs.

Very interesting indeed!! And great that you have an expert in your corner to help with the electronics.
Will you be removing the parts of the loom that is not necessary?

Naa there isnt much that will be unused.

And to correct my self. This engine will be 2011 and the ECU will be 2009.

Some teaser pictures with tuned 1190 platforms from the engine builder.

From Stefans own engine. 64.5mm intakes...!!!

BHP on the rear wheel. These numbers are made with the above mentioned changes incl. 54mm intakes. The only thing i cant replicate is the EVO 4 exhaust and 100 octane.

BHP on the clutch.

Cheers

Work.of.art. !!!
Intakes look awesome. I wonder if 175 hp at the rear wheel will be enough?

Honestly i dont think i can reach those numbers. My intake and exhaust will steal some funny numbers. Time to get creative.

So the immobiliser, tilt sensor, side stand switch and clutch cut out will be removed or disabled?
Looking at the coolant hoses will they fit within the frame or will u mcguyver them with silicon hoses?
I've been working with the 1190 radiator but found the tanks touch on fitment so I'm resolving that issue shortly

I cant comment on how he will deal with the immobiliser. Tilt sensor will stay put. Clutch cut out stay put and the sidestand switch will be deleted.

Regarding coolant hoses, they will stay as ive already MCguyvered the sh.. out of it. Tight fit, but it works like a charm. Then Again know we have the naked bike. How in earth am i going to make the RAMAIR...epic...fail...
Might get the German mastermind to extend the ECU wiring and put it another place. Then i might be able...

help

Would anyone be able to measure the lower part of the 1190 Adv air box(wide, front and rear)? And in the same time, would anyone know if the intake holes are placed identical to the RC8? I might need to use this part to make my custom ram-air for my project.

If you still need it, I just measured my '14 1190 Adventure R airbox.
It's just a tad under 16cm wide, I would say 156-158mm.
The width is equal over the complete length of the airbox.
Where the lid joins the bottom there's a really small lip, at that point both lid and bottom are 160mm wide overall.

Many thanks. An inmate did mail, but good info to have in the open.
The 1190 Adv fits straight in the frame then.

Just stumbled across this awesome project earlier today and didn't know whether you had the dimensions yet.

I'm looking forward to your progress!!

At the risk of suggesting something already suggested (didn't have time to read entire thread), now that there's a 1290 Adventure/SuperDuke who's engine isn't much heavier and likely very similarly dimensioned than/to the 1190, have you conisdered a 1290 engine for the 950 chassis? The Adventure version has a torque setup with cams and valve sizes I believe vs the Superduke so gets 160 hp vs 180 hp and 160 hp.....both with maybe 110 ft-lb torque but the 160 hp Adventure version having a different more tractable off-road friendly power spread.

I've had the same dream though I'll never actually do it so I look forward to what happens here.
