My 450 locked up on the bloochdog, goose, northwest tag road trip. I was hoping I could send it back and upgrade to a 550 but the list of things tech told me to do (download new program, system reset) fixed it. I wanted a newer one for the bluetooth so I could sync my phone.

My buddy, Old Man River, just bought a Zumo 550 from some online camera store for right around $500. I'll get a hold of him later to get the name of the store.

Just got a reply from OMR about the GPS unit he got...
The name of the oufit I bought my (Zumo 550) GPS is Beach Camera, out of Edison, NJ. Just checked the page and the price has gone up to $567.00. Still a great price. I think these folks put out loss leader deals for a day or two and then pull them. Most of the prices are pretty good though. And then also this... Beach Camera has the Zumo 220 motorcycle gps for $381.47! Also the newest motorcycle Zumo, the 665, for $867.67. A really good deal.

I am looking at mounting my Nuvi 500 (will do everything you need from a regular GPS) to a Ram Mount on my new-to-me GS and need a direct wire cable to tie to the battery. I have been using the 12V auto style plug and am tired of the damn thing shorting out on bumps (short in the wire)
Anyone have experience with wiring this on a GS? I also want to add a 12V (std not powerlet) to charge my Droid.

I wired my gps mount on my R1150R direct to battery using the cheap and easy method, and ATC add a fuse tap from Autozone like $4, think I used the horn fuse, so it turns gps off when I turn the key off.

Thanks. I will most likely bring my Blue Sea fuse block over from the strom and wire it in to the diagnostic plug as most folks do.
http://www.advrider.com/forums/showt...eastern+beaver I'll probably have a number of items which will be needed: Heated Gear 12V Plug Stebel Nautilus Chick Magnet

I think the last one is the most critical of "items" , it will require special color coordinated pink wiring, lots more power, and a 1200 page manual (that will be useless
)ok, enough, time to go sleep! Quote:
