I've deciphered the main issues and the common denominator is we lack gremlin defense. Russ never had one and mine is now AWOL. Bells must be found!

As usual very understated it could have been castrophic when I saw it, as the guy was honking, the strap was dancing with the chain....maybe we should be glad the gremlin had a hold of it.

Before we get too far afield, I want to mention the back story to which the thread title alludes. If you didn't already know, Key West seceded from the union. It's a good tale: http://www.conchrepublic.com/history.htm.

Gremlin Bells

You do know that they only work if gifted right? Though I guess you just buy one for each other and it is all good

Updating during your lunch break?

Shared your link with Glenn and Craig, they both think your load looks too top-heavy

One of my favorite T-shirts says "I didn't know BMW made cars until I passed one."

Not commonly known outside Beemer circles, but BMW has made motorcycles since 1923, well before they started making cars.

I told this Guy that his BMW had too many wheels.

We rode through Monticello, Florida. I've always like the town's cirlce.

50

It was also a good location to find a Dollar General and buy superglue for the Nolan repair.

I'm very disciplined in not speeding through school zones. This a was really good example of why not. Don't blink. The front sign starts it. The second ends it. We came barrelling at this thing at 65 and I immediately slow because it's flashing (actually it is during the photo too). Even at 45 you cross the zone fast. It took my brain several seconds to confirm that I had passed the "end school zone".

Today we are stopping in Enterprise, Alabama. I spent a few years in L.A. (Lower Alabama for those uninitiated).

We crossed the border into Alabama and I fired up "Skynyrd" and stood up on the pegs.

55

56

57

Passing Daleville (and one avenue into Fort Rucker).

59

One of my "must stops" in the area:

60

61

Mmmmmmmmm BBQ!

Shout out to Myrl and Doug for the hospitality!

Here's a stray photo from the keys. Now that's an impressive crustacean. What you can't see is the conga line of traffic swimming north behind Oduibhir.

(Song break- They call me "Cuban Pete". I'm the king of the rumba beat. Chick chicky boom...)

Tomorrow- Mississippi.
Forecast- Rain.

As the pig says, that's all folks.

Wild Hogs!

The odd expression is from being mid-laugh. The name on the mailbox struck a chord and Oduibhir was doubled over the tank a heartbeat earlier.

Clearly he ain't from around here.

I'm religious in checking tire pressures. While I've been accused of being a clown, I've tried riding a unicycle and I suck at it. So losing a tire is not a good option for me.

When I shift the bike to neutral (so that I can rotate the rear tire and get to the valve stem) I usually do this by hand rather than by foot. When I grasped the shift lever this morning it wiggled on the splines.....not good.

The trick is having the correct tool, in this case an E8 female torx socket. Fortunately I used to ride a Moto Guzzi and if you actually want to ride, you develop some good maintenance habits. In this case- when you use a tool in the garage, drop in a bag that goes on the bike. I used the E8 on my bar clamps and so it's in the bag.
