A Dr650 and an Electra Glide ride SW Mo and Ar.
My friend Richard and I decided to ride down to Arkansas and see the sights. I participated in the family Memorial day get together on Sunday and then we left Eldon, Mo at 3:00 in the afternoon. We went down through the Lake of the Ozarks area to Hwy 65 s and caught Hwy 125s. Hwy 125 is considered Missouri's Tail of the Dragon by some. Our First stop for pictures was at the Finley River crossing.

When we crossed the lake it was time to stop and we camped at Hwy 125 campground. This is a Corps of Engineers campground and it is pretty nice.

In the morning we headed south to Ar 14 to Ar 7 to Harrison. Then we took Ar 43 SW.to Hwy 21[IMG]
[/IMG][IMG] [/IMG]Not long after turning onto 21 we took Cave Mountain Rd. up to the Hawksbill Crag. Richard lives a couple of miles down gravel and has 170000 miles on his Electra Glide so he's not afraid to ride in less than perfect conditions. You don' put 170000 miles on a 2001 bike and be afraid to get it out when its a little bad on the gravel. I rode on ahead about a mile and when he got there I asked him how it was going. He said he was having a blast so I rode the other 5 miles up. This is a steep and rough road that I wouldn't have tried on my touring bike at all. [IMG] [/IMG][IMG] [/IMG]

We had been planning to cut over to Hwy 7 right before I40 but we decided to go see Mt. Magazine instead.
[IMG] [/IMG][IMG] [/IMG]Then we headed back down the mountain to Russleville and Scenic 7. [IMG] [/IMG]Then on to or campground for the night. This is a National Forest Service campground. My several year old book said it would be free and it turned out to be 7.00. Still a bargain. It looked out over one of those huge valleys off of Hwy 7. [IMG] [/IMG][IMG] [/IMG]This was the next morning and the fog had filled the valley. |

The next morning we headed for Cliff House Inn for breakfast. Turned out they were closed but we stopped for pictures.
[IMG] [/IMG]We were headed for the Hub when I realized that the world famous Ozark Cafe was right there in front of us so we stopped there for breakfast. Visited with a couple of guys riding Vstroms from Minnesota. Then we stopped to look at the Buffalo. [IMG] [/IMG]We turned off of 7 onto 206 and took it to 412. We stopped at Cotter to look at the White. [IMG] [/IMG][IMG] [/IMG][IMG] [/IMG]

Then we went to Bull Shoals Dam. They have a really nice visitors center.
[IMG] [/IMG][IMG] [/IMG][IMG] [/IMG]Then we headed up 126 to 5 hwy to 160 back in Mo. Turned off on PP and went to Dawts Mill. [IMG] [/IMG]Dawts Mill is on the North Fork of the White. [IMG] [/IMG]We went from Dawts to Hodgons Mill. This is where Hodgons Flour got started. A spring flows out and spills into Beaver Creek within an easy walk. [IMG] [/IMG][IMG] [/IMG]
