30,000 TNT members running & walking for a cure....
.....and I'm one in the mass of people. It's freakin' 4:00 am in San Diego and there are literally tens of thousands gathering this morning to run & walk for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. I'm so damn excited and proud to be part of this marathon & half-marathon.
Wish me luck today! Terri |

Thanks, magoo!
There were several other inmates running, walking or biking today in a couple of different events. It was absolutely amazing! Unless you've ever done something like this it's hard to explain the emotions involved. There were cancer survivors every few miles or so with signs thanking me for what I was doing. Also, posted on the route were pictures upon pictures of loved ones who've been lost to blood cancer. Very humbling and I feel proud to give something back to honor their memory. On the fun, celebratory side of things, it was great fun to see and hear the rock bands every few miles. The San Diego marathon was one of many across the country that are Rock-n-Roll marathons. Awesome! It took from me all it could to keep me from stopping my walk cuz I really wanted to rock out with the rock bands! I got sharp, stabbing pains in my right foot at mile 11 and slowed my pace a little but I eventually finished. We celebrated tonight with food, dancing and karaoke. I really, REALLY wanted to do "Brass in Pocket" but I didn't get the chance. Darn! Maybe next time. Thanks so very much for the inmates here who have supported me on this journey, I have much love and respect in my heart for you. Thank you. This is a cause that is very important to me. I'll just leave you with this one request....please, please get yourself typed and on the registry for the National Blood Marrow Registry. It could help save someone's life. Also, seriously consider joining TNT (Team in Training). It's a wonderful experience. PM me if you are interested. Peace and health, Terri |
