Just awesome, jaw-dropping scenery, particularly this . . .

And those snow pictures were both beautiful to behold and frightening in their potential to endanger anyone.

Great report ChinaV

same same but different

Hey lorne.. i just found your RR and i'm blown away.. your pictures rock.. and your galaxys are fine looking machines!
I can't believe i did almost the same trip as you at the same time, we started in yangshuo and rode to loa's and back doing about 4500klms in total on the 323 most of the time.. my mate Tom even fell off on the same road as you, we stopped and took picture at the same view point, then set off racing down the hill, road looked good but was slippery as hell.. very shiny tarmac right! he went down at about 70klms\hr but slid in to a ditch on the left, great to see it on vid though!!
I totally agree with you, china is awesome for riding, so much going on and petrol and generous people everywhere.
Hope you and your missus are having fun in the states, i am leaving china in oct so let me know if your back by then to have a beer or two amigo..
Going for some adventures in oz for a year or two.
Will post my RR now you've inspired me
take it easy
ps. supercross was cancelled due to rain last week but they have more planned in sept or oct, give galaxy a ring, they sorted me out with free passes.

This RR is epic. I was hoping for a good view of China and your report delivers big time.
It looks like before you crashed, you went through a pile of mud or animal crap. As soon as you leaned into the turn the bike let go. Darn lucky one of those big trucks wasn't coming.

Absolutely fantastic! Thanks for the huge effort in putting this together!

That mining road you took looks really awesome. BTW can you share any pics of the actual mining going on?

The riding and scenery is very similar to what you get in the Peruvian Andes (minus the prayer flags of course!), but I was amazed at how much more vegetation there seems to be in China at the same altitudes.

Thanks again, I hope you will be doing some more similar trips soon.

I think it must be a law of nature that all rr's in China are epic. I haven't read one yet that wasn't, and this one is no exception. great stuff, thanks.

Amazing trip and report. I've been to Shanghai and Nantong for 3 months this year. In comparision to Japan and South-Korea is China the best. I was impressed of the very kind people of China and the dimension of this country. But how did you manage to get a official travel licence ? I had always working permits so this is very different. Especially because you were driving to the Area of Tibet.

kind regards
