Anger Management?

QUESTION:
HOW much of cruiser popularity is based on loud pipes?
What % of cruisers are loud?
How much popularity is based on shiny bits to play with?
Personal note: I WILL ride almost any bike I can, my next bike might be a cruiser (leg trouble), it will not have loud pipes or ape hangers, etc,
Do not find rigids anything but perverse.
Specialization is fine for people who always know where they are going and how long, my view is I can choose as I go so I like bikes that can do all the rides I do.
My favorite cruiser engines were the early 80's Shadows (revy 6 speed 750's) and Magna V45, near as I can tell 90's Magna come closest.
Any comments?
Title anticipates some respones.
Looking at a couple Used Kawa Vulcans, you guessed it, loud pipes and no oems.

Own a used c-50. It came with idiot loud pipes. Put stock back on at the earliest opportunity.

Went croozer for knee pain. Basically traded in aching knee for aching ass/hips.

Check the Vulcan 750. There's an easy mod which prevents it from popping during deceleration and then it's not too loud. Unlike many cruiser engines, it doesn't flatten out at higher revs. Twist the throttle at over 6000 rpm and it will suddenly turn into a sports bike. The engine will scream and pull away very strong.

Pluses: a light cruiser that's good in twisties, good downtown and will beat any cruiser under 1500cc. Shaft drive.

Drawback: You'll want an aftermarket seat for long runs. Some of them seem to have persistent carb issues.

My Ex-Wife had a 650 Savage (not really known for a good suspension) and I really enjoyed riding the thing once in a while. The thing made a really nice sound and threw up lots of cool sparks when railed through the turns.
Had a few pucker moments for sure but...it was light and easy to control.
Did better than I ever expected a Cruiser to be able to.

Good luck on your quest.
F.W.I.W. If (and since) I can only afford 1 Bike, it's got to be a do it all D.S. like my DR650.

I had one of these for awhile. Centerstand, tach, hydraulic valves, shaft drive. Mine also had persistent carb issues. The floats kept getting stuck and flooding it. I thought it looked good, in a sort of '80's techno-Jap kind of way. It had plenty of power and the seating position was fairly neutral for a cruiser. I sold it to get the Concours for LD riding and touring.

I had a Magna for about a year. I considered it sort of a "sport cruiser" for lack of a better word. Plenty quick and handled fairly well for what it was.
Anything off pavement was scary.

OOmmmm

Thanks, it helps. CMT affecting leg nerves, will be going lower and or lighter. By choice, I've ridden Triumph America's and enjoyed it, but they are rare used and prices I see asked are high.
Owned an 1100 ST(5,500 mile), great bike for highway miles/commuting, no joy on the back roads, tall and heavy.
Ditto Concours (86 for 40,000 miles).
The Vulcan's are cheap "test the water ideas", one needs carb help and clean up, one needs a clutch.
OTOH there's a BMW C on Craigslist at $3,000, low miles.
OR a couple GS650's and a Seca 750.
